I have mixed feelings about this. I know this was raised back when Bernie during a debate just shut down and intimidated Hillary by telling her, "Excuse Me, I'm Talking," as he wagged his finger at her, which cowed her into silence. However, does anyone doubt that Trump and Cruz would just talk over Hillary, get into her personal space, and make Bernie's stern "Excuse Me, I'm talking," look like a polite, "ahem, i was not finished..."

The event took place at Judson Memorial, a storied radical church on Washington Square, and was hosted by the New York talk radio host Brian Lehrer. About 80 minutes in, C. Virginia Fields, former Manhattan borough president and current president of the National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS, criticized Sanders for his now infamous New York Daily News interview from earlier this month, in which he seemed to have only vague answers about how he proposed to break up large banks. As a former elected official, if something is the heart and center of your campaign you at least are expected to have some sense to be able to put forward a plan in leading that discussion, Fields said.
Now, theres a legitimate argument that Sanders answers werent as bad as some pundits claimed. The Roosevelt Institutes Mike Konczal defended Sanders refusal to offer concrete details, saying, Breaking up the banks doesnt require, or even benefit from, describing the specifics of how the banks would end up, either for his plans or for the baby steps Dodd-Frank has already taken. Jonathan Tasini made a rather less convincing version of this argument, saying, I dont actually think a presidential candidate or a president has to get down into the weeds and know those details.
But when Fields had the temerity to disagree, Tasini wagged his finger at her like she was a dim child and said, Virginia, you clearly did not read that interview. And, with respect, I dont think you know anything about the Fed, and you [dont] know anything about banking. He added that she wasnt comprehending what Sanders really said.
it is hard for me to imagine Tasini speaking that way to a white man. Some might disagree, and theres probably no way to quantify precise varieties of belittlement. All I can say is that I think many women will recognize it.

(31,700 posts)I want to start with a few key facts, because theyll be important in a moment:
1. Among left-leaning female voters under the age of 45, Bernie Sanders holds a significant lead in the polls.
2. Hes received far more donations from females than Hillary Clinton.
3. The results in Iowa showed that he won handily in the under-45 category, regardless of gender.
As it happens, there is absolutely a gap in support when it comes to Sanders and Clinton. But its not a gender gapits an age gap. The exit polls in Iowa would have been stunning for the sharp contrast they painted between young and old voters, if that divide hadnt already been reflected in just about every national poll thats come out in the past two months. Sanders won the 17-29 youth demographic in a rout with 84 percent support, and though the margin was smaller in the 30-44 range, he still trounced Clinton 58 percent to 37 percent. Climb higher, though, and the situation changes drastically. Among voters 45-63, Clinton won 58-35 percent, and for 65 and older, Bernie was clobbered 69-26.
Its simple math: Older people vote for Clinton, younger people vote for Sanders. I saw it at the precinct I observed Monday night, and the stats back it up.

(17,387 posts)For example, in New York, Bernie is beating Hillary among white voters. However, Hillary's lead is due to minority voters. This is amazing given that in 2008, she was the "white," candidate versus President Obama.

Clinton leads Sanders 51%-39% among New York Democrats, according to a Monmouth University poll released Monday. The poll found Clinton and Sanders effectively tied among white voters -- 48% for Sanders, 46% for Clinton -- but the former secretary of state leads the Vermont senator 62% to 22% among African-American, Hispanic and other non-white voters.

(31,700 posts)LOL, remember when everyone tried to unskew the exit polls showing Bernie winning the Latino vote in Nevada? Welp
Reuters has him up 56-40 among Hispanics.
http://polling.reuters.com/#poll/TR131/filters/PD1:1/dates/20160201-20160405/type/overall
PRRI/The Atlantic poll has Sanders up 49-48 among Latinos.
Latinos voters were essentially divided 48 percent for Sanders and 47 percent for Clinton in the poll conducted March 30-April 3 by Public Religion Research Institute in partnership with The Atlantic.

And finally, Marist/McClatchy has him up TWO TO ONE among Latinos.
Sanders, an independent, edges Clinton nationally thanks to solid support from several groups. He leads 76-23 percent among those 29 and younger; 63-31 percent among Latinos; 62-32 among independents; 58-38 among the unmarried; and 56-42 among liberals.

So not only is Bernie winning black voters under 30, but hes winning ALL Latinos.

(8,168 posts)I have the same feelings about posts from both sides, Bernie supporters have posted some of the most vile stuff I've ever seen in my entire life; and her supporters aren't much better but they post less here so cut with the fake freaking "oh I'm so freaking shocked" b*******. Nobody believes the one-sided stories, nobody.

Seems like someone hasn't watched groups of men talking to each other. Finger wagging at times is a very mild outcome when men are "discussing" things.
