2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumMaybe Bernie can do his taxes on the plane.
It's a long flight to Rome. Good opportunity to catch up on paperwork. I got my tax return in on time, but Bernie's busy, I get that.

Computers can be hacked. Ahem.
I use Turbo Tax and print out my returns for that very reason.
And if you say - well, it's password protected, I have a bridge to sell you.

(384 posts)I wonder if you have any idea how absolutely Out of touch this makes her sound to the average voter. The fact is, he has been making disclosures every year for many years with all of the itemized information about his income and Taxes. They show very simply that substantially all of his income is from his job as a US senator with a little bit of pension from his time as mayor. This is a level of transparency significantly better than anything the clintons have ever produced. her tax returns are a Labyrinth of shell companies and pass through charity income. They tell us nothing about the reality of her financial situation except that it is twisted and convoluted beyond anything that an average person would recognize as an Individual Income Tax return. His disclosures show he is basically Average Joe. She is Hillary, LLC. Every time someone highlights this tax issue it reminds us that Hillary is a corporation. But hey, corporations are people too my friend.

I don't like cults of personality. Bernie's up on his high horse flying to Rone because he's such a Saint, but meanwhile there are some details he just can't be bothered with....
I don't like it. Frankly, I don't like the pope. I don't like the flight to the Vatican for a ten minute speech. The Vatican's no friend to me.

(7,830 posts)to Delaware to avoid paying taxes is the EXACT sleaze Democrats are supposed to be VERY much against.
In fact, Hillary talked about how bad this practice was earlier this month.
She's a snake.

This," I can't find them, been busy, don't have time, my wife handles that" nonsense just demonstrates that he's not up for the job. The whole thing looks
sloppy and sketchy.
Attention to detail and MULTI-TASKING are essential skill sets for a potential POTUS.

(14,341 posts)This one is about Bernie and his haphazard bookeeping practices.
Personally, I find it troubling. The man is applying for the highest office in the land. At this point he should have his shit together.

It makes me wonder what he's hiding. There's more to this than meets the eye, I think.

(9,522 posts)Bernie's tax return in no way affects my life, or yours or any other American. Hillary's Wall Street speeches on the other hand could affect us all. Far better to see them than Bernie's tax return.

(14,732 posts)candidates make their income tax returns public. It's good for democracy and it's good for the voters. Hillary is the first candidate I've ever seen who is being demanded to release transcripts of private speeches she's given.
