Researchers concluded that U.S. government policies rarely align with the preferences of the majority of Americans, but do favour special interests and lobbying organizations: "When a majority of citizens disagrees with economic elites and/or with organized interests, they generally lose. Moreover, because of the strong status quo bias built into the US political system, even when fairly large majorities of Americans favour policy change, they generally do not get it."

system in order for you to be happy? Or is it OK if he just rails about it a lot? What is the objective? There doesn't seem to be one. Pragmatism is not Bernie's strong suit.

It is not pragmatic to idly sit by while Corporate Monopolioes, Wall St. Bankstyers and 10 percent of the population uses the political system to help it suck all the money out of the 90 percent

Depends on whether you want the candy coated version or not.

That's the issue.

I like President Obama a lot but I think he is, no matter what his personal desires, constrained by the "realities" of the Congress controlled by the wealthy, whether corporations or individuals.

It's like a twelve step program. You have to admit you have a problem.

meant as an insult not as a logical answer to policies. At some point the debate became a volley of unnecessarily hurtful insults. We all note the absence of political content because there isn't any answer to corrupt practices.

The only response is to keep telling the truth, that is what they fear the most--an educated populace.
