The New York Daily News has given a full-throated endorsement to Hillary Clinton, providing a major boon to her campaign just one week out from the New York primaries.
In a lengthy editorial published Tuesday night, the Daily News praised Clinton as "a superprepared warrior realist," while dismissing her opponent Bernie Sanders as "a fantasist who's at passionate war with reality."
The harsh critique of Sanders was to be expected after his poor showing at an April 1 sit down with the paper's editorial board. Throughout that interview, the Vermont senator had difficulty clearly answering some questions about both foreign and domestic policy, including the implementation of his much-touted plan to break up large banks and reform Wall Street.
Following the endorsement, Clinton press secretary Brian Fallon told CNNMoney that Sanders interview "was a watershed that fully exposed his inability to explain how he would make good on any of his promises."

(12,754 posts)Just a clue that corporate America and Wall Street banksters are salivating over the thought of another Clintonist administration. Screw the poor and working class. Enrich the banksters.

(53,787 posts)"The Daily News" is a respected newspaper with j-school grads running it who actual practice journalism by asking tough questions, and follow up questions, unlike many TV talking heads who let candidates blather on and on with talking points without challenging them.
New York newspapers are no joke. Bernie should have been better prepared.
Because it's a tabloid doesn't mean it is to be discredited because of that. There's a practical reason for the size. It's easier to read on a crowded bus or subway car than a broadsheet.
And btw, "The National Inquirer" broke the John Edwards baby momma story.

(53,787 posts)They are not in the same category at all.
Plus, the size of the paper has nothing to do with who they endorse.
I'm sure other papers, either broadsheet or tabloid, have endorsed candidates that you don't like.
It's a throwaway cliche.

(53,787 posts)The American ones, not so much. They don't print dubious, alien stuff like the grocery store check out rags do.
They have fun with their covers though.

legitimate newspapers with professional journalists working for them and they are absolutely nothing like supermarket checkout rags that make up "news".
They may poke fun in a certain "fluff" section but the rest of the papers are hard news, features, business or sports.
You couldn't be more wrong.
I doubt, after saying that, that you've ever even seen either of the two for at least a week to get a feel for what they are.
Ask anyone in the news business of whatever town you're from if "The News" and "Newsday" equate with grocery store check out rags.

I apologize to my fellow animals that happen to have feathers. (I have this odd belief that we are, as hominids, also Animals, which makes sense to me but confuses many).

Birds have been around for about 165 million years. Homo-Sapiens have been around for about 200,000 years. Yet we pride ourselves on being the pinnacle of evolution. A questionable conceit at best.
Dragonfli
(10,622 posts)But Birds have resided here long before us and some people prefer to feel we are superior to animals rather than just being one of several species of animals. If we are superior how is it, we only know how to harm our environment while virtually all the other animals live as part of and in balance with it's environment?
(for the most part, many cultures understand how to live in harmony with it, unfortunately we destroyed many of those cultures as well.)
You always have the best quotes and from such extremely diverse sources, I always loved that about you.
