ABC Evening News showed a video, showing that hours after Bernie Sanders spoke to striking CWA union members in New York City, Hillary Clinton made a brief appearance.
Surrounded by her staff, Secret Service, and the press, Hillary smiled and waved to the strikers.
"This has been going on for months," she said of the deadlocked contract talks, adding that the employees needed all the support they could get.
(Nearly 40,000 Verizon employees went on strike on Wednesday in one of the largest U.S. walkouts in recent years after contract talks hit an impasse)

(2,543 posts)Or did she just roll down the window as she drove by and executed a Queen Elizabeth half-arm twist?

(68,868 posts)she was very well-received.
considering that union is endorsing Bernie, a nice gesture.
But, Bernie supporters being Bernie supporters at DU, it won't go over well.

(28,876 posts)CWA is fully behind Bernie right now though.

(230 posts)hadn't been picketing with them this morning. Too bad she didn't follow his lead on his Iraq war vote.

(68,868 posts)Has Bernie ever done anything for any person or organization that's endorsing Hillary?

(68,868 posts)her support behind the union, not Verizon.

(28,876 posts)...then maybe I could believe she didn't call Verizon's CEO first to tell him not to worry.
geek tragedy
(68,868 posts)if she's publicly siding with the workers?
sometimes the simpler explanation is the best-accomplished politicians learn how to take money and still vote against the person giving it.

What hard-hitting votes against Verizon am I missing?

(1,377 posts)Is that all she said? That could been directed to big wigs in Verizon in support of the strife they are enduring by the peasants demanding more gruel.

(9,522 posts)She didn't stay long. Said campaigning words like she was with them, got her photo op, got back in her limo and left.
Else You Are Mad
(3,040 posts)Was the result of her having to wait for the 'okay to go' from Verizon and the executives that donated to her. She was just being a "cautious politician' and didn't want to upset her big money donors from Verizon.

(10,493 posts)Thats not all. For a May 2013 speech, the corporation paid Clinton a whopping $225,000 honorarium, according to her tax records.
Verizon has also given between $100,000 and $250,000 to the Clinton Foundation, which investigative journalist Ken Silverstein has referred to as a so-called charitable enterprise has served as a vehicle to launder money and to enrich family friends.
Moreover, the Clinton Foundation has partnered directly with Verizon, which is notorious for its vehement opposition to unions. The corporation is a partner in the Clinton Health Matters Initiative, and said it is proud to partner with the Clinton Foundation.
-snip-
Three Verizon vice presidents each donated $2,700 to Hillary for America. They were joined by a senior vice president and another vice president, who gave an additional $1,000.
A former Hillary Clinton operative who now lobbies for Verizon donated $2,700 as well, along with another Verizon lobbyist who pitched in $1,000.
