Pro-Clinton Rabbi Booted From Bernie Sanders Event for Being Too pro-Clinton

Pro-Clinton Rabbi Booted From Bernie Sanders Event for Being Too pro-Clinton
Andy Bachman was swapped out for a different Reform rabbi, less than an hour before a roundtable discussion at a Brooklyn church.

Debra Nussbaum Cohen Apr 17, 2016

NEW YORK – Rabbi Sara Luria wasn’t sure why she was called to participate in a panel discussion on faith and social justice with Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders just 45 minutes before it was to start.

Turns out she was a last-minute substitute for Rabbi Andy Bachman, who was scheduled to participate in the Saturday-night Sanders campaign event at the First Unitarian Congregational Society in Brooklyn Heights but was unceremoniously uninvited shortly before it was to begin.

The leading New York rabbi — formerly the spiritual leader of Brooklyn’s Congregation Beth Elohim and now director of Jewish content and community ritual at the 92nd Street Y — was dumped from the program for recent tweets favoring Sanders’ opponent Hillary Clinton.

I've voted D in every election since I became old enough to vote(the voting age was lowered to 18 the year I turned 21)
So if you don't think I'm a Democrat I guess you don't want or need my vote in Nov.

I've always been a registered democrat with REAL democratic values. Just because I don't support a hawkish corporatist (D)emocrat, I am no less a democrat than anyone else. In fact, it boosts my credentials as a democrat.

But on Saturday night he wrote: “I was booted off tonight’s interfaith panel with @BernieSanders‬ because of some “pro-@HillaryClinton‬” tweets. So much for being a loyal Dem.

It is very important for The Sandman to control the message. Rabbi Andy Bachman would have been a perfect addition to this panel discussion. But, this wasn't a panel discussion. It was a staged political event.
