OP
Nixon won. But it sure as hell wasn't because of the Des Moines Register.

5 elections have gone to Repubs since Nixon, which means their track record SUCKS.

getting the last ten elections right than Iowa. Iowa no longer represents a slice of America.
They can't even keep their young people from leaving the state as soon as they graduate
from college.
I have a theory Iowa votes the way they believe the country will vote to keep the early
campaigning and all the money it draws in the state. Plus they love the attention.
The Eight States College Graduates Love To Leave
Iowas education system isnt doing well, ranking 49th in math scores nationwide and reading scores dropping precipitously between 2000 and 2009. While the state does have a fair amount of residents with college degrees, many young people are still driven to move out of the state en masse. Fair or unfair, Iowa doesnt have a reputation for offering loads of opportunities for cultural or professional development. Legislators have realized this may be playing a role in the brain drain theyre trying to fight against and have created the Generation Iowa Commission, composed of young people throughout the state, to tap directly into the 18-to-35 demographic to see what would keep them in the state. Time will tell if this effort will help to stem the tide, as the state has already lost about 4% of its young professional workforce since 2000.

I was married in IA. had my first child there and still have relatives living there. For the DMR to endorse Romney
tells me how much things have changed. Iowans are good people but their political relevance is tradition and not
based on current reality.

was before they were bought out by a company owned by Bain Capital.
