Are Republicans Worried?

I spend most of my political life here these days and I do see our occasional hand wringer freaking out over one poll that shows Romney up by 1 in Virginia or something. So I don't really venture out into the world of Republican discussion boards and blogs. I used to go to the freerepublic every now and then to get a feel for the other side, but that site never seems to work for me anymore.

Anyway, does anyone here have a feel for how the typical republican voter out there is feeling about Romney's chances? I am sure a few of them are supremely confident in a Romney landslide of historic proportions. But how do our, dare I say, more down-to-earth republican friends feel about their election chances?

I know I certainly wouldn't want things to be reversed with Obama in Romney's position in terms of early voting and polling, but I am also not a believer in divine intervention, as many republican are.

On MSNBC, just caught the last few minutes of the discussion, they were talking about Ohio. He said they knew the history, they know the numbers, referred to Ohio as "ground zero"; said it was possible to win without Ohio but very, very difficult. Also said they are "concerned." So.

I mean, the guy's pretty much just like them! He's a serial liar, a hypocrite, professional plutocrat, chicken hawk, and a tax dodger; the epitome of a RW asshole.

From what I've read at Free Republic, no. They've deluded themselves. Any time bad news comes their way they ignore the reality, called it biased, call it a lie, and run to unskewed polls. Even after the second and third debates, they were claiming to be excited about Romney's decisive wins. They have totally abandoned reality and they really, really don't believe it's possible for the black Kenyan socialist Muslim to win.

They've lost it.

Ergo, delusion and untruth have a conservative bias. Repukes "can't handle the truth"!

he told Candy Crowley, "we're happy with our internal polling and we'll see in a couple of weeks who was right and who was wrong".

Later in a separate interview with Reince Priebus, when asked about their 'momentum' and he claimed they are leading in the polls, he danced all over the place talking about they have a better ground game than Obamas, and Obama's ground game is really not that good. My thought was, he had to have heard what David Axelrod had just said. Why doesn't he just say with some degree of confidence, "Candy I'll see you here in a couple of weeks and David Axelrod will be back in Chicago with a bunch of excuses ". I was convinced then and there that Reince is just talking and deplaying no confidence in what he's saying. In other words, as President Obama said about Romney, "He's a bullshitter."

They are also loathsome human beings. Whenever Republicans/Teabaggers pull out the "God is on our side" mantra, it's a pretty sure sign that the heathens on the other side are winning.

They're losing their minds. There isn't enough they can watch on Faux News or see on Unskewedpolls to make them feel better about how effectively successful Obama's Democratic GOTV war machine has been. Many are showing their disapproval by not voting at all.

Democrats are marching to the polls, doing their civic duty. Republicans, while they are trying, are not excited about the RR ticket. The only thing that excites them is they don't want Obama to win, but they cannot produce anything positive about Romney. Not much you can do about that.

Keep the pressure on DU'ers! GOTV.

You can't win an election when you are only voting against the other guy. You need to create enthusiasm for your candidate. Right now, Republicans are voting against Obama and Democrats are both voting for Obama and against Romney. Romney simply saying "I'm not Obama" isn't enough to win him an election. He will get votes, sure, but turn out for him will be anemic.
