(424 posts)"Iran, Russia draft military cooperation roadmap"
I would say it's non-conclusive and if I had to conclude based on it, it would be leaning toward yes, a war with Iran is a war with Russia since they hold a military cooperation agreement. And actually, I'd have to know exactly what is in that agreement and why they decided to cooperate at all.

(207,606 posts)As for The Russians, I've been there, and though I can't speak for Putin, I know how much the Russian people hate war. They suffered so horribly during WWII that even small schools have plaques memorializing students from that school who died and special WWII collections where the students study so they'll never forget...

(4,377 posts)It might not be open warfare, but they'd certainly pour money and weapons in to the country in staggering numbers.
The better question though is why on earth anyone would want a war with Iran. The only reason they have a theocracy is because of the CIA and MI6 overthrowing their democratic government in 1953 to consolidate oil interests. The Iranian people are hugely in favor of improved relations with the West, and all western belligerence achieves is to push back on that and reduce the chance of a normalization of relations. When I hear Hillary talk about them as enemies it infuriates me, its so completely unnecessary and counter-productive.
