It was close enough that they could steal it, and it shouldn't have been.

If we aren't careful that might happen again.

it was the largest popular vote between the rethugs and the democrats I don't think that is close.Florida seemed close because of all the bullshit that went on there with stopping African Americans from voting and turning them away from the polls and then the Supreme Court ordering the stopping of the recount

is what I've read time and again. I haven't checked this for accuracy, but is it true? If so, Duhbya is the first to have "won" the election in 2000 without having won the majority of the popular vote.

With the House and Senate controlled by Republicans, why would anyone want to take even the smallest risk of having the GOP control everything? United we stand, divided we fall. I seem to remember that Nader was not too concerned about Bush's victory.

And he supports universal healthcare, regulating the shit out of corporations, higher taxes on the rich, gay marriage/marriage equality and pretty much all the same things as the rest of us on the left.

When he called himself a libertarian, he meant it in the sense of social libertarianism, not economic libertarianism.

Judging someone's ideology based on who they've been romantically involved with is very ignorant.

He could have taken it all the way to the House of Representatives.

Because all of our Presidents are appointed by the HR. They validate the Electoral College votes.

I remember some decent Republicans, when there were some, wavering on the vote.

Al should have taken it up the ladder but HE QUIT!!

Morally and financially were are the poorer for it.

But his lawyers had already screwed up with their tactics on how to count the votes. Too long and complicated to go through here, but they never called for counting ALL the votes, just some of them. They had enough evidence of voting and counting irregularities to ask for a full recount and didn't do it.

Then for the places that were counting but stopped because of pressure from the Republican operatives, Gore's people did NOTHING to force the completion of even the partial counts.

It was clear from the voter lists purges that the fix was in for Florida. When the Supervisor of Elections for one county refused to use those lists because of obvious errors and another Supervisor was ON the list, there was no doubt at all. And Gore's people did nothing BEFORE the election to make sure people eligible to vote were not purged.

than Rush Limbaugh would run in the Boston Marathon. It is totally absurd to suggest otherwise. This is the same crew who impeached Bill Clinton in the face of an election they lost and Clinton's 70 approval ratings.

And when they run a moderate they lose. Whether President Bush won legitimately or not he served as such for eight years. Watch the clip and then decide, I think Bill's tone gets the point across.
