(Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) Apparently they hosted an event with Paul Ryan at their annual Sun-n-Fun fly in yesterday.

1. Damn. I've been an AOPA member for something like 25 years.

If they are taking sides like that, screw 'em. But does AOPA actually manage Sun & Fun, or are they just an advertiser or sponsor?

4. I read the AvWeb article - sounds like S&F has a lotta 'splainin' to do

and others aren't happy about the rally. They claim RR just rented the space and that it would have been available to the Dems if they'd asked. Seems to me they should have refused any political activities for the obvious reason that it pisses people off. Still, I don't think I'll bust on AOPA too hard for this.

2. Just did a little research: Sun & Fun used to be operated by EAA,

but now is an independent organization. AOPA doesn't seem to be involved except as an advertiser/sponsor. So I guess I'll hang on to my membership for now. However, I might contact them about this, find out how much control they have over S&F's activities.

Craig Fuller was one of George H.W. Bush's spokesmen and used to be a talking head on all the political chat shows including Tweety's. he is the president of AOPA.

I would guess Romney campaign is just renting a hangar there to hold their rally. Sun n Fun has a new sales and facility manager:

all the donors quit donating money, the same thing might happen to AOPA if the have a lot of liberal members!
