2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumVoting in Oregon ( I <3 Vote By Mail!)
I wish everyone could have as easy a time voting as we have here in Oregon. My husband and I voted this afternoon in the comfort of our living room. We both had a pretty good idea of how we were going to vote on most of the candidates and measures but we were able to check online for info from a couple of local news sources and a liberal blog (BlueOregon) about some we were unsure about. We were able to have a good discussion about each-and I was even able to persuade my husband to support the Multnomah County Library funding measure. Yay!
It was especially helpful to be able to have the Internet when it came to a totally obscure soil conservation board race that had several candidates. Since I know that right wing groups love to run ringers for for races like this I really didn't want to skip it or just pick a random name. We were able to locate the League of Conservation Voters recommendation for the post.
After voting we took a stroll to drop off our ballots and have lunch. In our case there's a drive-thru ballot drop-off right next to the McDonald's a few blocks from our house. We also could have dropped them in the mail or other in-person drop-off sites. Civic duty done, I finished off with lunch and a locally brewed raspberry wheat beer.

(18,791 posts)I do vote by mail here in California but love the way OR offers it statewide...with all the drop off options.
It's such cool system.
