2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDems ahead on the 1st day of early voting in FL.
I just got an e-mail that was forwarded from the Vice Chair of the FL. Democratic Party re: numbers from the 1st day of early voting. Here is an excerpt:
On the first day of Early Voting, 306,567 Floridians turned out to vote, which is more than on any one day of Early Voting from 2008 and nearly double the turnout from the first day in 2008. Democrats made up 48.2% of the voters who turned out yesterday, while Republicans only accounted for 35.9%.
On the first day of Early Voting, Democrats opened up a 37,734 lead in Early Vote turnout.
(note: apparently Ind. made up 13.19 % of early voters.)
Just wanted to share.

(8 posts)I stood in an hour long line in Marion County to vote for the President, but I won't fall into those Democratic numbers, I am a registered independent.

(3,003 posts)...I'm from Florida originally, and can tell you that registered Democrats outnumber registered Republicans in Florida by about a 2-to-1 margin. However, many registered Democrats in the Sunshine State vote Republican nearly 100% of the time but for whatever reason, they refuse to change their party registration.
Florida has not elected a Democratic governor in almost 20 years, and the state legislature is OVERWHELMINGLY Republican. This couldn't happen without a significant number of cross-over voters.
