Voter turnout in Kentucky (KY), Not a battleground state

Last edited Tue Oct 30, 2012, 02:30 PM - Edit history (1)

10/28/12 - With 72,537 votes cast in early voting.

I've deleted the EV result info here. I believe I didn't read the GMU.EDU data page correctly and mixed up KY and LA states.

I thought it was Democrats who were lazy and had no jobs...it seems the early voting allows them to take care of their civic duty on non-traditional Tuesday votes because maybe they are busy on voting day.

Republicans have control of the majority of the election apparatus in this country, either by controlling the election boards or by outsourcing key parts to private companies.

People understand that Republicans have organized on many fronts to suppress our right to vote and to sabotage our right to have our votes counted accurately. Early voting doesn't solve all those problems, but it is one tangible act people can do to fight back.

Another aspect is the so-called "enthusiasm gap". When all is said and done, there may indeed be an enthusiasm advantage for the Republicans. But the core base of Democratic voters are damn well pissed off at what the Republicans have been doing, and we want to express our outrage at the earliest possible moment. Is that a factor in Kentucky? I don't know, but considering their senior Senator has been at the forefront of obstruction, I think it could be.

I hope this isn't just an enthusiasm advantage of our most active 25%. Let's see that momentum continue all the way to 100%

Think about it. The "enthusiasm gap" is a fiction of the MSM, and they haven't been right about anything in this election cycle.

In states like this, it is not safe to assume people registered as Democrats will be voting for Democrats....

The ratios may apply to Louisiana, in fact, that looks to be the case.

Sorry if I misled. But either way, Dems are leading in one or both of those states in EV.

GOTV everyone. Let's win this thing and fill congress with Democrats!
