2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTHE TWO MOST IMPORTANT VIDEOS OF THIS ELECTION - And what you can do to spread them
Okay, they may not be the two most important videos of this election.
But they are really, really damn important.
First, because this one is more viral-friendly:
Mitt Romney's Vietnam
Second, Mitt Romney, the Republican Party and The Right to Choose:
Defend Choice
If you've ever wanted to do anything for me - and I try to help wherever I can around here on DU when folks are in need - well, I need you to spread these two videos.
I made both these videos in a thorough collaboration with one of my super-talented friends.
These are two things I really want the people to know about this election.
I was the creator and producer, she was the creator, editor and the person who made this thing go.
Please watch both videos.
Please spread them anywhere and everywhere.
Please get this hundreds of recs and get this on the greatest page, so more people see it.
Please - if you have a twitter account - tweet the videos themselves at their youtube locations, so we can build views. And please push these through twitter as hard as you can.
I am really proud of these, and I think I can speak for my friend in saying we are very proud of these.
I think they're really important.
PASS THESE ON!!!!!!!
Now I have to go back to Noah's Ark - to say my apartment is leaking doesn't cover it. We're getting drenched. Thankfully, so far only possessions are under threat.

Think we're going to be perfectly safe, but everything is getting wet.
Argh.

(4,507 posts)I know it's just on your behalf, but I am so outraged by Mitt, Ann and the boys being so shameless and brazen on this front.
And Mitt with his pretend commander in chief BS - you couldn't be a bigger coward then to protest *for* the war and then run from it in every which way.
The description for the Vietnam video lays out the case, but I had to race through writing it because my place was taking on water.
Was the Vietnam one alright? As a vet, does it strike the appropriate chords?
I hope it's clear that while I want to emphasize what a fraud he is through the video, I am also flat out enraged by his posturing, his statement that "he longed to be" anywhere but hiding in Paris, and the general flippancy with which their entire campaign treats something I think should be disqualifying (Mitt's entire interaction with the issue of service).
Both my father and his brother served this country, my uncle as a career army man (Colonel, ultimately).
Mitt is a disgrace, imo.

(58,656 posts)The video works. It juxtaposes the reality of the war with what Mitt was doing at the time.
Part of my sadness has been that many, many vets vote Republican. I can excuse that from a few years ago, but not lately. Romney is at least as bad as Bush II on this, and maybe worse. They're just too flippant about if for me. The whole thing about how his sons were "serving their country" by working to get him elected nauseated me. Ann's comments that the Mormon missionary work was similar somehow to combat was pretty galling. too.
It is part and parcel of the whole bunch of them having really no clue about how people live.

(4,507 posts)how disgusting Ann Romney is.
Bordeaux, Paris, Australia, Leeds, and Santiago, Chile. That is where those five brats "served."
Ann is just about as disgusting as Mitt. Just vile. And they don't even know how craven they are.
