Focus on "The FIVE"
Okay, I know this sounds like a repeat of what I did two years ago as we were struggling to keep control of the Senate. Now I'm going to try it again, only this time with control of the White House at stake...
We all know that, no matter what, Obama has 201 electoral votes in the bag. This includes all northeastern states except NH, the Pacific Coast states, along with IL, NM, and MN (and yes, we will win MN). So, we need at least 69 more electoral votes to put Obama back in the White House:
Here are our target states:
NC & FL) As encouraging as the early voter turnout has been, I really have a hard time seeing either of these states go for Obama again this year. They are moderate when compared with the rest of the south, but they both lean right and getting 51% of the vote in either one of these states would be a major accomplishment.
VA) A real possibility, but again, a huge conservative population makes this a tough one. We may get it, but to be safe, I don't think we should count on it.
CO) This state is going to be extremely close. Hope we win it, but again it's not a gimme.
IA) Again, it'll be close. Will depend on how organized our ground game is.
These leaves us with the "BIG FIVE"...these are the states in which we seem to have the upper hand (at least slightly), and we absolutely MUST win these:
PA
MI
OH
WI
NV
These five states alone carry a total of 70 electoral votes which will put our vote total at 271--enough to win the election even if we were to lose all of NC, FL, VA, CO, IA, and NH.
These is the lowest-hanging fruit in the tree and we must do everything we can to make sure they vote for President Obama next Tuesday. Victory is in sight...focus on "The FIVE"
