but many here say they do. I wonder if it's because I usually click through a DU or twitter link.

just get the popular "NoScript" extension. It blocks websites from running scripts unless you give them permission. It works on the NYT site, and also protects you from pop-ups, malicious code, etc.

I really like the NYT and would love to be able to afford the fee. I think it's totally fair for them to charge for content if that's the business model they choose to follow. So I'll try not to abuse this information, but sometimes there's that eleventh article a month that I really want to read....

Thank you!

you could only see what loads when you click on, if you wanted to read more they wouldnt let you see the rest of the column w/o pay.

I use the Twitter bypass code, which you tack onto the end of any URL after the last slash, replacing any existing codes which would start with a question mark:

?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Example: http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/10/29/oct-28-in-swing-states-a-predictable-election/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Seeeeeecrets! :p
