...but if it helps the President, good.

(At first I thought Christie was simply telling the truth, but it's more likely he's thinking of 2016.)

And I too wouldn't call it an "endorsement" but it was high praise and more than he had to do just to be polite.

Not sure it's a rare flash of decency from Christie or his 2016 ambitions talking, but I'll take it.

back to trashing the President and saying how marvelous Myth Romney is. A flood of angry posts and hand wringing will deluge DU as people recoil in horror from the words of Chris "Tony Soprano" Christie.

but I give him credit for telling the truth, and giving the President his due.

I can think of plenty in the Republican party who wouldn't have the moral fiber to do that much.

he thanked the President, and then behind closed doors I'm sure he was right back on track calling the man the worst president ever since Jimmy Carter.

I don't let conservatives being nice for a day fool me into thinking they've somehow grown a heart.

They're still the most hateful motherfuckers around.

All conservatives take opportunities to help themselves. It's the major difference between the two types' mentalities.

We cannot credibly rail against the hyperpartisan gotcha-obssessed nature of politics when we participate in it. One Republican saying that a Dem POTUS is doing a good job in one non-partisan area is not even remotely akin to an endorsement, and by trying to make a partisan image out of it we are demonstrating to Reps what happens to any of them who dare unbend from unyielding utter hatred even a tiny bit - we will shamelessly capitalizen on it and use it as a partisan soundbite, truth be damned.

What's wrong with saying, "good for Christie - it's good to see a Republican acknowledge a good job by a Democrat these days"?

So, if some conservative moron says "Thanks, Mr. Pres," it's perfectly all right if that conservative destroys all the unions and rails against the "big gubment" myth and takes every other opportunity to shit on anything democratic?

Okay. Fine. Good for you, Christ Christie. You're not an asshole 100% of the time. Only 99% of the time. Wow.

Good for Christie. Republicans take note: this is how to sound and look like a statesman instead of like an arrogant, partisan, petty politician.
