(30,947 posts)My daughter lives there and looks like the closest polling site is in Miami Lakes.

(38,687 posts)The line at the Miami Lakes polling place is fairly long (I pass by it daily). I haven't seen the Hialeah line, but Hialeah is heavily Cuban-American and they tend to do their early voting by absentee ballot. So maybe the line is shorter.

(1,214 posts)I mean 3 hours? That's ridiculous. I've never had to vote in a big city before, but I can't imagine that there wouldn't be enough people to manage several more polling centers with lines this long. WHy?

(6 posts)This is NOT a big city issue, it is the same issue that we have seen in the last few elections, voter suppression of likely democratic voters. When I looked at the wait times on the Miami-Dade dept of elections site I am outraged! There is zero justification for making voters wait in line for more then maybe 20 minutes. Wait times of 1.5 hrs to 3.5 hours is voter suppression and illegal voter intimidation. Also, how the the world is this happening in this election when so many people have their eyes open!? Shouldn't a federal authority be all over this? Well, I'm not going to sit and do nothing. I first will post this to my group which has a weekly reach of over 1.5 million. Then I'm going to start contacting people. If we all sit and allow the GOP to again fraudulently take this election, then we are just as much to blame as they are for doing it.
