2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumVoters don't care that ROMNEY is a tax-evading, money laundering rat bag?
At the end of the day Republican voters don't care who the candidate is - it is the party that matters.
Republicans will vote for a wooden post with a Republican label on it.
With all the tax-evading, money laundering going on in the background republican voters turn a blind eye.
They don't care if he dodged the draft
They don't care if he constantly lies
They don't care if he is a Mormon
They don't care if he will take away their Medicare and VA healthcare
They don't care about education
They don't care about the auto industry
Republican voters vote for 'their' issues - abortion, anti-gay, anti immigrants, guns, 'kill the poor' (even if they are poor) and think that one day they will be super-rich like Mitt Romney.

I missed your mormon comment - what is up with that? What difference does that make to the fact he is a rich 1% douche bag?

(45,319 posts)Bible based that you fear Obama is a gay Muslim? Those who are should care that their candidate is a polytheist who says Satan was Jesus's brother and one of the many gods raped Mary to make him. Not because one faith is less rediculous, but because they insist that others must pass the muster of their dogma, save for Mitt, who is free to be in what the religious right called a cult until a few months ago. So if they cease attacking gay people standing on a Bible that is clearly optional to them, if the drop their attacks on Obama's Christian faith, then hey, it does not matter...
Except maybe for the part where Mitt belived and taught as church official deeply racist beliefs until he was 31. He took the 'blacks are inferior' message to France and then carried it forth as church elder and bishop and that might matter to a few people for good damn reasons.

(7,047 posts)You should examine what you just said. I don't like anyone making broad blanket statements about one's religion. I had Mormon neighbors for 5 years and they were the among the kindest I've ever known. You are trying to stereotype in the same way that some would admonish a Muslim of dedicating their faith to a pedophile. Be careful with the broad brush. Think about that, please. Thanks

(2,345 posts)The Bible says Satan is a fallen Angel. That is a being that has no material manifestation that was bewildered by the breathing of the material into existence. Mormons call him a brother... who cares?
It is all allegory, metaphor, and archaic thinking.

And that is all that matters to the Pukes/Baggers/Haters.

(320 posts)These people are only semi-civilized. Funny thing is that they're probably the most likely people to wax about "Western civilization" in a thinly-veiled racist tirade about how their tribe is so much better than other tribes.
Please. These people could be taught a thing or two about culture and civility by Bronze Age peoples.

Others identify with the wealthy, even if they have no chcance of moving out of poverty.
Interesting article in the Guardian also suggested that some Republicans who depend on goverment programs hate the fact they are dependent and hate the government that helps them, and thus vote for "small" gov't, et.
