Related: About this forum# The 10 run rule and Bernie

If we only had it in the primaries. When I coached youth baseball we had a 10 run rule. If you were down by 10 runs after the 4th inning the game was called. The rule should apply here.

We've already seen HRC try to puff herself up with every vote above and beyond the votes earned by Bernie.

everyone seems to focus on his looks but honestly do you think how he communicates is effectively Do you think he wins over anyone with his sourpuss? Devine is much better.

Most of the Bernie supporters are so invested that they can't step back and look objectively at the situation..

Did you see the spokesman for Hillary on MSNBC last night. They get it. Unfortunately, in this country looks are important. You might want to deny but it is reality.

(4,528 posts)matured Trump looks ridiculous and he was ok as a younger man. Today, I think Hilary is more attractive that Mr. Orange.I don't understand why most of the Bernie supporters don't deal with reality. Every study shows that attractive people are thought of as being smarter. None of this is true but we are a shallow superficial nation.

(4,528 posts)It's is over. He is hoping he will flip the supers. That is just not going to happen. He had almost no chance before they went negative but he has insulted the party. When you insult the party you will not get them to change their vote. As a matter of fact the opposite occurs.

Imagine the voice of John Oliver...

You WILL play that game, Johnny! You WILL, you WILL! And you WILL bring home that tiny Dollar Store plastic participation cup because you are a winner, even though both your orthodontist sponsored team and you completely sucks at playing the game!

You're a winner in my eyes!

#### wilt the stilt

(4,528 posts)It was not to protect the kids. They all wanted to play and these are not toddlers. These kids are well into middle youth years. The reason is there is a time limit of either 1 hour and 15 minutes or 1 hour and 30 minutes based on age. There are tight schedules to get the game in and they typically start at 8 in the morning and the last game is 12;30 or 2:00. The purpose was too keep the day moving.

#### TheBlackAdder

(28,559 posts).

I've got four kids who played youth sports, mainly baseball and soccer.

The parents are the one's who don't want their kids humiliated, because it is a reflection on them.

They also don't want to be at a game for 3 hours because their precious Saturday social lives of running to BJ's or Costco are jeopardized. I've seen this play out time and again. They start to get angry and yell at the coach, in stereotypical angry parent-to-coach fashion.

This rule had the byproduct of allowing more games to be crammed in on a weekend.
**Well, we don't have to fit in more Primaries, and there is already a fixed time limit on the Primaries, so you've invalidated the very point you were trying to make with this OP.**

(4,528 posts)and I am familiar with everything. It really wasn't to protect the kids. We had games on Tuesdays and Thursday games started at 6:30 and there were two games during the weeknights and weekends.

We didn't want kids playing at 11:00 at night.

This is Georgia where sports are extremely serious. The 4th most major leaguers come from Georgia after FL, TX and CA and Georgia has less than half their populations.

The worst athletes play soccer. White suburban kids LOL.

It was to get the games in and I have dealt with a lot of parents. It gets way worse in all stars. parents who were unruly were banned the next couple of games.

And little ones who tell lies, they get a time out.

(1,820 posts)Or because you don't like everyone having a chance to vote.

Hey we are all grown-ups now and we can all wait till the end - pretty simple.

We are not 10 years olds waiting for the Pizza party after the game. The game ends in just a few more weeks. Hang in there dude you will be okay!

Notice how I don't bring people's kids into the equation. Only pitchers and catchers do that.

(22,315 posts)If Senator Sanders wants to continue forward, isn't that his choice to make? I don't think he will win the Democratic nomination but all of the calls for him to concede are from those observing the campaigns from afar. Who knows what his brain trust is planning?

As others have pointed out, the flaw of your analogy is that the presidential primary is the major leagues and there's no mercy rule in MLB. My opinion is that none of us knows what will happen after the conventions so the speculations are pointless.

In any event, I'll vote for the straight Democratic slate in New York.

(5,815 posts)And let's be honest, the party needs to pulled to the Left as much we can possibly manage given some of their impulses.

By staying in the race, Sanders is maximizing the force he will take with him into the convention and hopefully tug on the platform favorably.
