2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHillary, Hillary, Hillary.....
Please someone make it stop.
She is pro death penalty and voted for Iraq..../facepalm
Then there's this...
Barack Obama accused Clinton of flip-flops on torture: Obama is right. In an interview with the New York Daily News in October 2006, Clinton condoned torture, saying, In the event we were ever confronted with having to interrogate a detainee with knowledge of an imminent threat to millions of Americans, then the decision to depart from standard international practices must be made by the President. That very, very narrow exception within very, very limited circumstances is better than blasting a big hole in our entire law.
But in a debate in New Hampshire last month, Sen. Clinton shifted her position, when offered a similar ticking time bomb case, responding, As a matter of policy, torture cannot be American policy, period. To our ears, that sounds like a reversal.

(47,187 posts)US right wing stirred up Americans into a state of fear everyday, after 911. There was a time there where a Senator depending on what state they were representing had to walk a tightrope. So what her first statement meant was, she was against making it US policy allow enhanced interrogations, but she allowed that the executive branch could be required to use certain techniques in the most dire situations. What she meant is she didn't agree with what the Bush administration was known to be doing at the time. She took a position against Bush plain and simple Sounding different to our ears is a stupid way to evaluate it, the question is whether she agreed with the Bush administration or not. The answer is NOT.
fun n serious

(5,761 posts)All of us were paying attention and sorry but as far as torture goes, Obama was correct.
The first statement is what it is, nothing more, nothing less, she supported torture.

(325 posts)But she believes that in dire situations, it should be up to the president to decide to use torture or not.
This is clearly a position that supports the option to use torture.
I also think is laughable how you are calling it certain techniques instead of torture. You sound like dick fucking cheney. Its torture.

(3,795 posts)I also agree with what Trump said about Clinton.
She has God-awful judgment and is not fit to serve as President.
It is going to be a long, long 4 years if one of them becomes President.

(10,476 posts)A few months ago, one could say it was just a part of the process, trying to get Bernie elected. But you have to know, in your deepest heart of hearts, that he can't carry CA and NJ at 66% or so, right?
This is like the stories this week of Bernie sending funds downstream to Democratic candidates for office. Great, wonderful...but these are people trying to primary incumbent Dems, like your favorite bugaboo DWS.
What this comes across as to outside observers is scorched-earth bitterness.

(5,761 posts)I don't have to answer to you You know this.
If you'd like to know though, I'll throw you a bone.
Bitterness? Yeah I can't stand Hillary. I lost 3 friends in Iraq because she voted for it. I've seen friends suffer under Bill when he redid welfare reform. I don't trust her and never have. Sorry but she is not to be trusted just like most of America sees her and the latest thing with the emails? It says it all. She outright lied about it. There is NOTHING Hillary can do to change her image. America sees her for who see is.
People are suffering in this country. Big time. Hillary's policies do NOTHING to help those people. It's the status quo to continue the pain and misery for millions. So there you go. Along with this;

(10,476 posts)So did Bernie, boxy.

(5,761 posts)at all.
Bernie didn't vote to go war with Iraq. We all know that. So please, you can stop the spin already. Obama didn't vote for it either.
Who is the odd duck out who has bad judgement? Hillary.
Why are you supporting someone who has been wrong so many times?
Tarc
(10,476 posts)Same difference.
Again, I ask; what is the point of all this? You know he has no path to the nomination.

(5,761 posts)Our troops should always be protected. Period. Iraq was wrong and you're equating what Bernie did to a vote for an illegal war.
Actually I disagree with you. I fight for what's right and stand by Bernie and other progressives, whether they're Dem, Green or Indy. People > party.
