2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumClinton Might Not Be the Nominee
Since I read somewhere that OPs on the front page of GDP indicate whether or not it's "over:"
How could that happen, given that her nomination has been considered a sure thing by virtually everyone in the media and in the party itself? Consider the possibilities.
The inevitability behind Mrs. Clintons nomination will be in large measure eviscerated if she loses the June 7 California primary to Bernie Sanders. That could well happen.
Sanders supporters, if there has ever been a call to action, this is it.
Finally, with Mrs. Clintons negative rating nearly as high as Donald Trumps, and with voters not trusting her by a ratio of 4 to 1, Democrats face an unnerving possibility. Only a month or two ago, they were relishing the prospect of a chaotic Republican convention, with a floor fight and antiestablishment rebellion in the air. Now the messy, disastrous convention could be their own.

(1,446 posts)Nothing we do is going to change the minds of the players in this and, if anything, too many people go about it the wrong way and antagonize the situation. I'd like to see the FBI complete their investigation and present what they have. While I don't think there will be an indictment at all, I am betting the investigation itself is going to be pretty damning (as was the State IG report) and just provide the Republicans with an incredible amount of ammo. Her failure to interview with the FBI will already be fodder for weeks.
I am good with letting the process play out and if the superdelegates feel that Hillary is too damaged by the reports and scandals, they'll make a move. If they decide to keep her after all that, the outcome of the election is on them.

(51,076 posts)but as her history will show she very seldom does that. She needs to back away and go count her ill gotten riches in private. Leave the rest of the world alone.
It would be ok if she had a cogent vision for leading the USA but all she has is an unhealthy thirst for being the first woman president, period.
I remember years ago when I used to chase after the ole big mouth bass. As soon as I had one hooked you could just cut my line as I was finished. I'd done what I had set out to do which was to entice the fish to bite my presentation. Getting it into the boat just to release it wasn't any part of the thrill for me. Well thats how I see the pResidency for Hillary. She just wants the tittle and has no idea as to what to do with it once she gets it. The last person we need as President today is a Hillary Rodham Clinton. We gawdamn sure don't need slick willie back any where near the reigns of power. Contrary to what I used to think he was not a good President, in fact it was he who furthered the administration of st Ronnie more so than bush1.

(1,446 posts)As we can see, Hillary won't provide information in very valid investigations into national security conducted by the State IG and the FBI. This just shows that she will do what she wants and better not be questioned about it. Her foreign policy is more of the same on that front. She'll do what she wants and everyone just better accept it.
At this point, the superdelegates are going to do what they are going to do, and Bernie supporters won't be able to sway them if they are in the Clinton camp. If they choose to stick with her, knowing the baggage and scandal she carries now, that's their decision. They, and they alone, will hold responsibility for any negative consequences of that decision.
trouble is they, (SD',) will ride off into the sunset with their ill gotten riches along with the rest of the war mongers and thieves. Never to look back to see the carnage left in their path.
My hope is there are enough of the SD's who give a shit to make sure this all doesn't happen
Hillary will never be President, its as simple as that.
ETA:
She'll rue the day she is elected if by chance she happens to be.

(99,710 posts)She is one of the most emotionally strong public figures I have ever seen. What doesn't kill her only makes her stronger. She reminds me of my mom. My old man was an amateur boxer, veteran, and stevedore. But when it came to emotional strength and courage my mom was a rock.

I wonder tho, when they hit that button does everyone with too many hides get reblocked?
Does the slate get wiped clean and we all start over?
I've had 3 hides in the past 90 days, but only deserved 1.. what happens to those who have been alert stalked and by the old quota would be banned?

(14,498 posts).... "because she's not Jewish". Which describes the motivation of a segment ( I think relatively small; but nonetheless very *real* chunk of Clinton's portion of the DEM primary electorate. As well as on this board. "Hymietown" anti-Semites,essentially)
But I stand by the big factors I identified in #20: celebrity/ media coverage/ gender. I'd add: unyielding support from the national party apparatus. ( A double edge sword there, however. I.E. That cuts both ways.)
And, hey... you should TALK to some millennials before you jump to conclusions about how "wise" they are.

It's attitudes like yours which may doom the Democratic ticket in November. You don't get to take broad-brushed swipes at a whole generation and still receive their votes. If everyone under 35 feels like you have abondoned them, no amount of "I was just respondng in kind" will bring back their volunteer work, their votes, or their party memebreship.

As far as your concern for millennials goes, I've seen more than a few posts in DU indicating that Hillary only has elderly and retired supporters. I'm happy to hear mid-40s is now considered elderly among millennials.

The funniest part is even I am going to vote for Hillary. Democratic since birth is a good description of me. In my 63 years there are 2 Democrats I despise one was Warren Hearnes guess the other one(s)? The online DU version of Hillary supporters are fascinating where the real life versions are far more rational. The ability of Democrats to alienate other life long is something I would never have predicted. Donald Trump who may be the worst politician to ever stand for high office is predictable in a Republican sort of way. Keep up the rationalization of Bernie Brothers, entitled millennials, BoB's, and now my favorite nothing burgers. When it comes right down to it I do not care who is the Democratic nominee I am along for the ride.

Now, allow yourself to consider that there are facts that support a belief that she has been lying about other things just as vigorously.
I have a long list of reasons why I could never support Hillary, but at the moment the potential of an FBI recommendation for her indictment is at the top of the list. How could it not be?

You can't just email them because if you tried to email classification to a non government address it sets off an alert.
That information had to be taken off of the secure government server and put onto Hillary's non government server.
And people think this is really no big deal? Ask someone in the intelligence community.

They don't have to support Bernie, but they should not back Hillary. Refusal to testify will be as bad for her and the party as a recommendation for indictment. If the Super Delegates back her then, the results will be on them.
