TRENTON When Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton returns to New Jersey Wednesday, her campaign will get a bump from Garden State rocker Jon Bon Jovi.
The New Jersey native is scheduled to speak to the crowd when Clinton campaigns at the Golden Dome Athletic Center at Rutgers University in Newark.
It's the first time Bon Jovi, who was raised in Sayreville, will appear at a campaign rally with Clinton in his home state.
Bon Jovi will headline a Boston fundraiser for Clinton later the same day.

(99,714 posts)Jon Bon Jovi is the founder of the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation, which exists to combat issues that force families and individuals into economic despair. Through the funding and creation of programs and partnerships, they support innovative community efforts to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness.
It is the organizations goal to recognize and maximize the human potential in those affected by poverty and homelessness by offering assistance in establishing programs that provide for permanent, affordable housing while supporting social services and job training programs.
The Foundation started its work through the localized efforts of the Philadelphia Soul Arena Football Team, of which Jon was an owner. The Foundation quickly expanded its work to have a national presence in its commitment to develop role models for our city on the individual level, corporate level, and community level by developing, promoting, and assisting in innovative and long-lasting solutions to rebuilding pride in ones self and ones community one SOUL at a time.

(30,481 posts)So what angle do you take with Katy Perry endorsing and supporting her?
Do you feel the least bit bad for going ageist and limiting your view of reality at the same time?
Hint: Clinton is going after all age groups. Not sure why that bothers you.

I have no clue what you are talking about "safe space".
Bon Jovi. Yeah, he will really excite the youth. Perry. You suck.
Nothing but negativity.

(2,064 posts)HRC polls poorly among young voters because she represents the very interests that are crippling the efforts of young people to make their way in the world. She is a throwback to the '90s, when many of Bernie's supporters either weren't born or were small children. Telling these voters that economic justice and progressive legislation that would result in a more egalitarian society is "naive" or not realistic isn't going to inspire youth to rally behind her.
She got some rich celebrities with limited musical talent to endorse her. Yippee! I'm sure some grad student with $100k in student loans is very impressed... not...
Young people aren't stupid, they're just young. And they can see that Hillary represents powerful Wall Street and corporate interests that don't give a rat's ass about young Americans. The "I've got mine, screw you" wing of the Democratic Party is a tough sell for those young people not enjoying life among the 1%.
NCTraveler
(30,481 posts)And an overwhelming majority of the Democratic Party. Don't forget them.
"Young people aren't stupid"
Didn't say they were. Not sure why you placed that here.
"The "I've got mine, screw you" wing of the Democratic Party is a tough sell for those young people not enjoying life among the 1%."
Yeah, I'm kicking it with the one percent. This line of argument you are going with is simply laughable.
Perry sucks!!!!!
Bon Jovi can't excite the youth!!!!
You are all one percenters!!!!!
The youth knows what you don't!!!!
I'm glad I don't have to go with these arguments.

She's greedy and apparently broke the law to nourish that greed. How inspiring...
Say what you want about Bernie, but unlike HRC he didn't go into politics to get rich. Hillary did, and has. Now she may have to pay for the legal shortcuts she took. That's called karma. Enjoy...

(30,481 posts)If you haven't noticed, I am enjoying. That being said, I want you to join me in the fight for things, not simply against them as you are doing now. It is a better approach though it does require more thought. We can create a more just future together.
Yurovsky
(2,064 posts)If Hillary had taken another route to,finance her campaign & lifestyle it would be much easier to get behind her. I certainly will be voting D down ticket, and who knows, if HRC is elected she may surprise me. That would earn my vote in 2020. But as of now I just don't trust her to fight on behalf of people outside of the corridors power. I am convinced she will resort to defending the interests of Wall Street, Walmart, Exxon-Mobil, and General Dynamics.
A greater fear I have is that the youth of our country will become disengaged from the process and allow the status quo to be maintained. And where is the next generation of political leaders on the Left? I was discouraged to see far more youthful faces on the GOP debate stage than on the Democrats (Gov. O'Malley being the lone exception). I think the beatings we've taken down ticket (and yes, I blame DWS for much of that) has hurt our bench strength for coming national elections. The demographics favor our policies moving forward, but I want to see more leaders emerging from state houses and Congress that will take the Party into the 2020s and beyond.
