2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI would Never Vote for Sanders Again
I once believed in Sander's bullshit. All of the nonsense about the election is massively rigged, an indictment is coming any day now, claiming that Clinton and Trump are essentially the same person. I believed it once but I have moved on from this bullshit. Sanders and his politically suicidal fans have lost all credibility. I wanted to believe he was different but he is just another egotistical politician that wants everything despite never earning it. I voted for Sanders when the caucuses came to my state. I waited in line for hours to cast my vote for the guy. It was a massive mistake. I'm not voting for this guy if he somehow steals the nomination or for any other reason. I can't stand listening to him for one more second. Sanders is everything that is wrong with politics. He's a demagogue that claims to be above the fray but really he is driven by ego and his own glory. He is willing to let this country burn if he can't have his way. Fuck that and I don't want to be part of any group that believes any of his bullshit.

He really seems like he wants to let the democratic party burn if he doesn't get what he wants.

(13,141 posts)Psychological projection is a theory in psychology
in which humans defend themselves against their own unconscious
impulses or qualities by denying their existence while attributing
them to others.
For example, a person who is habitually rude may constantly accuse
other people of being rude. It incorporates blame shifting.
According to some research, the projection of one's unconscious
qualities onto others is a common process in everyday life.

I personally am trying not to take anything he says seriously until June 21st -- giving him a full week after DC votes to come up with a way to not stand in the way of a Democratic win, not abandon the causes he believes in, and still make sure his supporters know he's still fighting for them.

(13,141 posts)There may be only a small possibility but you can not say there is none, ie that she will not be the nominee.
Until that becomes certain one way or another -- Bernie is continuing because WE want him to continue.
We will continue to make a case until the convention, that he is in better position to defeat Trump.
None of us know at this point when or how the FBI will throw in their monkeywrench. Legal precedent says: many people have been convicted, even jailed, for lesser national security offenses that what we already know she's done.
Even if the FBI declines to recommend indictment? that won't be the end of it. She'll either be destroyed in the election by Trump, or paralyzed by investigation and obstruction if she makes it into the WH.

I know it's shocking to see a liberal hippy keep fighting for votes and delegates even though he can't win. We are so used to liberal being wimpy, folding up their tent, and kissing ass or disappearing.
This primary will end and I hope you realize that Bernie is fighting for an agenda - more liberal agenda than HRC can provide.

Btw, did Sanders himself ever say Hillary would be indicted, or just benignly accept the boost to his campaign from others saying it? I think that was mostly a passionate delusion of the Hillary derangement syndrome folk and adopted in some overly partisan ecstasy by GD-P.
No sensible person should ever have believed it. The "indictment" promise was first made to whomp up the conservative base over 20 years ago--you know, the mean idiots on the far right?--and it worked so well that over the years literally dozens of promises for as many fake crimes have been tossed like red meat to keep them worked up.
Here's a quick clue: Any time "Judicial Watch" is involved, suspect phony -gates and lawsuits funded by ultraconservative billionaires to stop the Democrats.

(45,251 posts)If Sanders Can't Handle Clinton's "Dirty Tricks" [View all]
I have been lurking on these forums since the primaries started and I hear a lot about Sanders would be cruising to the nomination if it weren't for Clinton and her dastardly coin flips and lies about Sanders record. Perhaps some of these stories are true ( although some have sounded like paranoid, rambling conspiracy theories) and I wouldn't put it past the Clinton's to play dirty. Truthfully, I don't really care for Hillary and I would much rather have Sanders as president ( although I would take her any day of the week over one of those psycho Republicans).
So perhaps good guy Bernie is being beaten down by negative campaigning, cheating, and having the deck stacked against him. Maybe every accusation I have read against Clinton in the primaries is 100% true and Bernie is being screwed over. All of that begs the question, if Bernie can handle the Clinton machine, how in God's name is he going to be able to handle the full onslaught of the Republican party?
Maybe Clinton and the DNC are dishonest and pulling dirty tricks, but that will be kids gloves compared to what the Republicans will bring. Do you really think if Bernie got the nomination, trump or rubio or cruise and the RNC and the billions dollar super pacs will play nice? That the campaign will be a respectful exchange of ideas and realy focused on the issues that affect america today? Do you not think the GOP will take everything Bernie has ever said out of context or make up insane bullshit about him or rig the vote every chance they get?
If you think Clinton is tough and unfair, it will be 1/1,000,000th of what he will face as the Democratic nominee. The one thing that has given me pause about supporting Sanders is whether he (and his supporters) can take the heat and frankly can fight dirty if needed. American politics is a much of a blood sport as it is about having ideas.
To put it bluntly, if you want Sanders as president, toughen the fuck up. Prepare for a full on war more brutal than anything the Clinton's or DNC would ever be willing to image.

Where Does Sanders Go From Here?
These primaries are always about momentum and giving the impression that you are, at minimum, able to maintain viability for the long run. So far, Sanders has looked good. He nearly tied in Iowa, won New Hampshire in a landslide and lost Nevavda. But the next few weeks look rough.
South Carolina is a list cause, from the look of it. He's come back from large deficits but not this close to the voting.
On Super Tuesday
Clinton will win Arkansas, Georiga, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
Clinton has a pretty good lead in Oklahoma
Sanders will win Vermont
It is Tie in Massachusetts.
Sanders will win one, maybe two small States. Clinton 6-7 stares, some large ones.
After Super Tuesday, Michigan looks like Clinton on March 8th. The polls for March 15th are old and they are a bit far out but most are leaning towards Clinton with the info we have.
That doesn't look like a good situation. Sanders will have 2 or 3 wins in small States compared to Clinton's possible 10 or so. How does Clinton not run away with this thing in the next few days?
