2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHillary is the Democratic Nominee. Congratulations
to (most of) her supporters here..
She wasn't my choice, but I felt a moment of real pride that a woman is the nominee. And yeah, I think she can beat the Trumpus. Of course, I also think he's going to implode messily.
And her foreign policy take down of him was excellent. Keep hitting him on temperament.
I have serious concerns about Clinton, but they sure as hell pale in comparisons to my concerns about the Trumpus.

(889 posts)Only at the convention can a nominee be declared. Yet everyone is now saying that Hillary is the nominee. So I must have missed the convention. And I feel bad about that. Because I enjoy the speeches, the roll call of the states, and all that.
I wonder if Chelsea will soon be declared the Democrat nominee for 2024. Hereditary dynasties work that way.
As for me, I've got my write-in pencil ready. So I'm good to go.

(1,233 posts)It is over. There will be no miraculous comeback at the convention.
We have a common enemy now, and he is Trump. I hope you will join in saving our Country from him.
And you might want to review the new rules before you make a habit of sharing that write-in thing. Just saying.

(10,164 posts)I'm a pretty big enemy of war. Of so-called "free trade." Of oligarchy. Of fracking. Of legalized bribery. And so forth...
Sure, Trump's a racist assclown with no business anywhere near the Oval Office. But assuming every liberal's going to agree that he's somehow vastly worse than Hillary Clinton is a mistake.

(1,233 posts)Sometimes I am proven wrong. Hopefully, this will not be one of those times.
The thought of standing by while everything that President Obama has built is burnt to the ground is too painful to even contemplate. Assuming any true liberal is going to let that happen is fantasy.

(889 posts)I will vote for the candidate in November who most resembles FDR. I suppose that will take a write-in vote this time. And I am aware of the new rules. So I guess I will eventually be banned. I'll have no hard feelings should that be the case. After all, it's not my site. I'm just passing through.

(889 posts)This has certainly been a rough primary season, with lots of mud slung back and forth. I must admit that I've been involved in a few of those skirmishes myself.
I salute you for your calm and reasoned post here. Hopefully, things will work out in the end. I have my doubts about that, but anything is possible.

(24,721 posts)Her campaign was far from business as usual & everyone who has been paying the slightest amount of attention to it should know that. "It is over so get over it" is a slap in the face -- just sayin'.

(1,233 posts)The olive branch is appreciated. We have much to do together if we are to turn Congress blue.

(18,402 posts)I've been on the losing side of primaries before, so I know how hard it can be to move on from a loss. But I also know how after a couple of months, one can gain enthusiasm for the eventual nominee.
Let's make sure to work together now, not just to fend off a Trump debacle (Trumpacle?) but to elect Democrats across the country to the House and Senate. That will be critical to any kind of forward progressive movement.

(11,605 posts)You pretty much nailed exactly how I feel. I would have preferred Bernie, but I am proud to have the first woman nominee in the party's history and I do admire many things about her.
