2012 election priciest to date: $4.2 billion tab and rising
By Jennifer Liberto @CNNMoney November 5, 2012: 6:36 PM ET
WASHINGTON (CNNMoney) -- The tab for the 2012 election is breaking records, with $4.2 billion raised through Sunday on the races for the White House and Congress.
Never before has so much money flowed into federal races. Much of it comes from the unlimited fundraising power of so-called independent groups, including super PACs. By comparison, around $3.8 billion -- an eye-popping amount on its own -- was raised for the 2008 election.
In the presidential race, those supporting President Obama have spent $931 million so far, while those supporting Republican challenger Mitt Romney have spent more than $1 billion, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.
A big chunk of the money is coming from the uber-wealthy, according to election experts. Some 149 super-rich donors gave $500,000 or more, contributing $290 million of the funds raised so far, according to analysis by the Center for Responsive Politics and the Center for Public Integrity.

Bain owns Clear Channel.
How much of that money was spent for advertising on Clear Channel stations?
A billion of that?
Advertising from BOTH sides?
How much did Romney profit from that?
It's like the whole thing was a scam to move cash from donors to Romney's pocket via his ownership in Clear Channel. Even money that I donated to the Obama campaign went into Romney's pocket.
I really despise our election system...

(25,253 posts)I also wonder when it is all said and done and we have the total vote count - what the cost or spend per vote will be?
Just think about it - that will be how much that they think your "puny little vote is worth".
Don't ever think your vote doesn't count. They spent big money this time out to buy your vote. They believe it counts.

That makes your vote worth about $42.00

Get out and vote for Pres. Obama so we can appoint common-sense judges to the Supreme Court who realize that a corporation is NOT the same as an individual citizen with rights guaranteed under the Constitution.
