2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSuppose Bernie had Hillary's superdelegates, would you support him in the GE?
I'm asking, because I keep reading that Bernie supporters are not somehow "on board."
So, were the situation reversed, would you vote for Bernie Sanders as the Democratic nominee?
Would you opt out of the election?
Would you vote for Trump?

(13,340 posts)I'd be mad if that happened. I'd still vote for the nominee because Trump.

(18,252 posts)I would have voted for him in November.
I don't understand why the candidate who lost the pledged delegate count and the popular vote is for some reason entitled to a nomination he didn't win by any measure.

(92,190 posts)has the most pledged delegates, the SD will go with. That is what happened with Obama and Clinton
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)almost always the one with the most pledged delegates. In 2016 Hillary Clinton has both and Sanders has neither.
Superdelegates are irrelevant to me in this case, except for what their rejection of Bernie says about their evaluations of him.
But Octafish, let me make clear. I am farther left than Hillary and wanted a more leftward candidate. After watching Bernie all these months, however, I firmly believe that Bernie is NOT the right stuff for president, not by temperament, intellect, judgement, or ethics. I would vote for him if he were my only choice, of course, but that is all.

(2,348 posts)In the one case, of course I would support the winner of the primaries. In the other case, I'm not sure yet if I could get behind someone who was undemocratically given the nomination against the will of the voters.

(11,619 posts)Certainly.
Was that what you meant by your question?
Since they were first used, Superdelrgates have always supported the winner of the pledged delegates.
I am not sure what issue is in question here.

(10,437 posts)majority of votes, of pledged delegates and super delegates of course we would have to support him as our nominee....the stakes are too high
luckily, we don't

(146,298 posts)said that they would vote for Sanders if he became the nominee. I've said that dozens of times. Democrats vote for Democrats.

(31,516 posts)I will admit that I'm glad it's Hillary, but I would have voted for Bernie without hesitation had he won the nomination.

(4,494 posts)I was waiting until the new rules kicked in, but I wanted to weigh in on this.
I have said for a year, on other sites, that I would vote for the Democratic nominee, whether it be Clinton or Sanders.
