Rocky stretch hurts Trump in poll, but race with Clinton still close

Trump, Clinton are near-tied when third party candidates are included, poll finds

Republican Donald Trump emerged relatively unscathed from one of the rockiest phases of his campaign, lagging rival Hillary Clinton by 5 percentage points but essentially tied when third-party candidates are included, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.

It sure looks great when they go head to head, but throw in those other candidates and it's too damn close.

Third party candidates always poll like this in June of presidential election years.

6. Nope. I do not believe for a minute Johnson will get 10% of the vote and Stein will get 6%.

I also take solace in the fact that those results are contradicted by the results in the A + rated ABC WAPO poll*:

Clinton 47 Trump 37 Johnson 7 Stein 3

The pregnant question. Could Trump win? Of course. But I would rather have our hand than his.

HRC leads by 6 points (with rounding in a four man race) and 7 points with rounding in a two man race:

But I really don't pay polling ANY attention when there's a 3rd party candidate included. That type of polling is for the birds, and I don't take it seriously.
