Christie on Cruz: ‘an Awful, Selfish Speech’...
"...which I'd never have the courage to make"
Following Ted Cruz’s refusal from the stage to endorse GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, Gov. Chris Christie denounced the Texan in an interview with NBC News.
“It was an awful, selfish speech, which showed everybody why he has richly earned the reputation he has on Capitol Hill,” Christie said of Cruz. “I don’t understand how someone can come into this room and give that cute speech he gave tonight.”
In a 23-minute address, movement conservative Cruz, out-dueled in the GOP Primary by Trump for the support of the party, chose not to issue a public endorsement of Trump, instead urging delegates to “vote their conscience.”
