CNN saying Cruz/Trump debacle was staged. Fake "reality show" w/Trump marching out

On CNN they are saying (John King, Jake Tapper) that the whole incident was clearly staged -- Trump's helicopter, "apprentice-like" buzzing Cruz's press conference before tonight's ceremonies, Trump and co. saw Cruz's speech BEFORE tonight and knew it did not contain an endorsement, then the exact "timing" of Trump walking out towards the conclusion of Cruz's speech (while encouraging the audience to boo Cruz), etc. This is just ridiculous and appalling -- and the tacky manipulation of the television audience is so grossly tacky Trump. Craziness all night combined with a showdown with the "villain" Cruz -- how convenient.

seems odd to me. The cameras didn't even show Cruz leave the stage; they focused on Trump marching towards the stage like a "hero challenging the villain." Trump thinks any drama is good drama, so he was hoping for this craziness.

Someone, obviously, is set on making this less of a cluster****. Not that this scenario would improve things, but some idiots in the GOP might be cheered by it. Colbert, Noah, Stewart, et al are all sitting there with their jaws on the floor, crying with the beauty of it, saying "Thank you GOP, the comedy gift that keeps on giving!"

Entering the arena, and diverting attention while your past and/or present opponent is ranting and raving is the classic Pro Wrasslin' hype-building scenario.

The Trump team saw Cruz's speech ahead of time, they saw Cruz going long
and they whipped the mob up. And Trump made his entrance right on cue.
But isn't this all a bunch of sandbox nastiness. All Trump did was get a jab in
on Cruz and take the spotlight away from his own VP. I do believe
Trump will eventually be his own undoing, with or without our assistance.

Trump controlled the convention. He knew before hand that Cruz was going to be a problem. He knew he needed to take the spotlight off Cruz if Cruz did not endorse. All of those antics Trump pulled were put in place before Cruz's speech just in case Cruz might upstage The Con man.

If Cruz wanted to help trump, he would have endorsed him months ago and would have agreed to be his VP. If Cruz was interested, trump would have offered it to cruz over pence. It would have help unify the party and bring trumps numbers up. How does cruz telling trump to fuck off when the entire world is paying attention help? If he endorses in a few weeks or few months, Trump would still be in a deeper hole than if cruz had not shown up at all and never endorsed trump.

There are too many risks and virtually no rewards for either cruz or trump. This is typical conspiracy theory nonsense; too complicated to make sense. Its far more likely that Cruz, a self serving, vindictive asshole came out to get revenge on trump for attacking his family during the primaries. That is far more logical than some staged political theater where he embarsses trump, tells him to fuck off, and then some day endorses him. There is no rhyme or reason why such a thing would happen.

Manafort was whipping the NY delegation. Heilemann (?) saw it, asked M afterward if he did that, and M said nothing to deny it. Trump was standing in the shadows during Cruz's speech, and as the crowd started booing and Cruz kept talking, Trump stepped into the light.

Jesus Christ! That whole thing was as "spontaneous" as the Brown Shirts marching out of the beer cellars!

Edited to add: Heidi Cruz started to leave during the booing and became surrounded by people shouting at her and threatening. Some delegation (I didn't catch who) was able to escort her out safely.

giving her speech on Monday. Before the plagiarism was caught, that speech by Pat Smith was intended to be Monday's emotional highlight, but Trump couldn't stand not being the one in the spotlight.

Besides, he has no attention span, so while she was speaking he needed something to do, preferably something that would satisfy his need for attention.

I think he made the calculated decision that having even half hostile Cruz would be better than non show like all the other big hitters. Drama in his world is not bad. Also I think this helps him with the base.

I'm so happy Cruz killed his political career. I can't stand this guy. IMO he is much worse than Trump. Such calculating SOB, am certain he knew he would get booed (had that NY line all ready). The GOP base will not forgive him when Trump loses.

Why would he want to be subjected to that?

as for trump, this is the firs time I've seen him unsettled, disturbed. He seemed distracted during his son's speech and his interaction with Pence (air kiss and all) was awkward. He wasn't his usual arrogant self.
