Seriously ... are we really witnessing the end of the GOP? Or is it just ...

... something that's fun to contemplate in the wake of all the missteps, goofs and disasters that have recently befallen that party.

When people talk about the end of the GOP, is it just way to verbally rub-it-in and humiliate the party members? Or is the party ACTUALLY falling apart? Is the convention (and the candidate) proof that it's self-destructing?

in every federal, congressional, state and local election.

So I don't think it's the end of the GOP, NJ.

They get a lot of votes just by the millions who believe the lies that the right wing spreads about Hillary Clinton and other democrats.

My hope is that the large majority of Americans look at the policy differences between the democratic party platform and the republican party platform, and vote for democrats.

But there are a lot of people who will still vote for republicans. For a whole variety of reasons. I don't really care if 'a lot' of people vote for republicans, so long as they don't win the majority of votes.

... is poll after poll hardly lifting above 40.

If he doesn't hit 45 avg nationally after this shit storm then he's toast, cause the swing states will be even worse.

Clinton is right, it be best if the DNC got out of the national mode and got into the local and state, hopefully Sanders revolution will spread there.

Hopefully

... and turn a generation against the GOP like what happened at the end of the Clinton admin with Bush and blacks...

I know I remember their bullshit in SC and would never ever forget Roves tactics about McCains daughter.

That was it for me, hopefully tRump will be it for Hispanics... matters how much time the DNC is going to put into making sure they know how the GOP feels about them (not just immigrants either)

Ensuring he is our President. I am just sick tonight of the thought.

With so much Hillary hate out there and the MSM against her we are screwed. I am not proud to be an American tonight. So many stupid people supporting him. They are being conned. And we are helpless to stop this train wreck.

Unfortunately psycopaths and opportunists don't ever go away. They'll just show up somewhere else like the Libertarian Party.

I think to a certain degree the GOP has fallen apart, as organizers who know better get as far away as possible from the neoFascist takeover and permit chaos to temporarily reign. You can see it everywhere in this convention: incompetence writ large.

But those same people haven't actually gone anywhere. They're merely waiting to be begged to come back and fix the problem.

And it's an easy job, too: Republicans still have the House of Representatives so gerrymandered that even if we regain it this time, it's nearly certain to swing back in 2018 when turnout is reduced. Democrats also have to defend a large number of shaky Senate seats in 2018. All the party insiders really have to do is smear President Clinton for two years and take credit for the pendular comeback. If they succeed well enough, they'll try another impeachment game.

Of course, the next election after that is going to be a huge problem for them. Ted Cruz has already effectively tossed his hat in the ring for next time, and recall that he also is a divisive scumbag with stupid beliefs, who GOP insiders hate. A dozen other aspiring dictators have seen and learned the Hitler metric of naked racism, ultra-nationalism and authoritarianism which Trump has ridden to the nomination.

It's going to be a long and cataclysmic battle between evil and stupid, and while I have no doubt that the stupids will eventually lose and once again become subservient to the evil wing of the GOP, one thing that virtually defines stupidity is not knowing when to quit.

so they will be hard to kill when Americans sit glued to the boob tube or radio and believe every word they hear.
Plus they have gerrymandered districts so badly that they almost have a lock on the House no matter how bad their candidates are.

Pure fiction and it will help his chances.

We need to realize that about 40-45% of voters do not care if it's all lies, it's what they want to hear. If he can convince just a few more % we are in trouble.

141 Things Donald Trump Has Said and Done That Make Him Unfit to Be President

How many times has Donald Trump disqualified himself from holding the most powerful job in the world? You be the judge.
By Chris Kirk, Ian Prasad Philbrick, and Gabriel Roth

It has been 13 months since Donald Trump announced his presidential bid and, in the same speech, called Mexican immigrants rapists. The ensuing drip feed of Trumpian absurdities and offenses has had a desensitizing effect. We know that Trump is a racist, a misogynist, an authoritarian, and a narcissist, but we’ve lost track of the many, many specific things he has said and done that disqualify him from the office he seeks.

So we have compiled a list of specific things that make Trump an unacceptable candidate for the presidency. Some are policy proposals that should be outside the bounds of debate, like punitive torture. Some are casual vulgarities, like his description of Rosie O’Donnell. You might not agree that each individual item on the list is disqualifying in isolation—you can vote those down, and vote up the ones you find especially egregious—but the list’s cumulative weight makes its own statement.

Disclaimer: Trump contradicts himself a lot. Not all of the policy positions listed here reflect his current thinking on a given subject. You’ll have to decide for yourself whether you find that reassuring.

And ultimately over time that will pull the Democratic party platform away from the left. You'd have a new centrist superparty that no one can take down.
