Demsrule86
(70,825 posts)A few times, I have turned on my paid radio and heard Jill Stien's nasty self on the progressive channel on Sirius... she was on Thom Harmen once and a couple of times on Make it Plain. I turn it off immediately... or listen to CNN which has not been bad this year at least when I listened. I a going to cancel my subscription if they keep it up. I am very disappointed in Thom...and was a big fan before the primary.

(42,527 posts)Are you sure you think this is funny? All it takes is for people to start alerting on their videos and get enough votes, their videos will never be posted again.
emulatorloo
(45,510 posts)Not seeing that, sorry.
yuiyoshida
(42,527 posts)And I have seen the others mentioned elsewhere. Mike Malloy's tirade over Hillary, Thom Hartmann's commentary. I want to truly know, whose videos should be eliminated for their
anti-Hillary stance.
emulatorloo
(45,510 posts)Responded down thread I don't agree with the criticism in that thread.
One thread does not = massive support here for banning Cenk.
yuiyoshida
(42,527 posts)people yelling and screaming about all of the above listed, and so if they are so bad, why aren't they alerting to have the videos removed. One was, Mike Malloy talkin about Hillary. THom Hartmann beinG on RT.
emulatorloo
(45,510 posts)You began thread claiming DU'ers want to ban Malloy and Hartmann.
Now you are mad because people who have criticized Malloy and Hartmann aren't alerting and trying to get their videos removed.
Understand your passion, but you are making contradictory statements.
'Banning Thom videos bad'. 'Not alerting on Thom videos bad'
---
Now let me give you a concrete example re the RT thing. I like Thom. A lot. I don't like that he's chosen to be on RT. I think it hurts his credibility. I would prefer he distribute on YouTube, as I believe TYT does. I have said so in the threads his interns post here. Giving suggestions about finding other ways to produce the shows and still maintain high production values. Long winded way to say things are not black and white.
yuiyoshida
(42,527 posts)apparently we have some extremists on here who do want them banned. I don't and I don't think we should cater to them, but that's just me. I am trying to shine a spot light on those who think they should be banned. Let Du DECIDE, and so far its looking pretty good to me.

(14,936 posts)The 1st and ONLY mention of banning TYT from DU came for YOUR own post. So now you make an entire OP claiming others were saying his videos should be banned.

(42,862 posts)It's pretty clear that their agenda is to harm Hillary (even though they disguise it as "concern" and they appear to take great delight in their task... presumably their desire is still to "burn it down" so that the "revolution" can commence.

(6,431 posts)And by agitators I mean the DU members calling for this (haven't seen it personally).

Cenk wants Hillary to go after Trump hard, he wants her to win. Just because they don't support everything about her, doesn't mean they aren't voting for her. Many have policy differences, think she isn't progressive enough, but still know she is way better for this country.

(19,518 posts)I remember how marginalized I felt after the convention in 2008. The thing that hurt me most was the gloating by some on the winning side.
I've listened to Thom Hartman for many years. He has given Bernie two solid hours every Friday (Brunch with Bernie) for years when nobody outside of Vermont (except for political junkies) had even heard of him.
I saw Cenk on either CNN or MSNBC this weekend chatting up the Democratic ticket.
Rather than ban these voices, why not take a look at what they're saying now and what they say going forward? If they decide to play the politics of petulance by further damaging Hillary, cut them loose. If they're on board with electing the Democratic candidate, then they're valuable voices, especially in bringing some of the holdouts into the fold.

DFW
(56,311 posts)All this business with new rules and all took place during time I was not active on DU, and I haven't gone over them in detail, but I think there has to be a middle ground between a desire to completely control all dialogue and a laissez-faire attitude that permits any and all vicious ugliness, both spontaneous and organized. I don't know ANYONE who doesn't like Thom Hartmann, whether you are 100% with him politically or not. On the other hand, I can't imagine anyone here who uses Fox Noise as a serious source of information or inspiration, although I did indeed sense of that from the more dedicated of the "I-Hate-Hillary" crowd before I left.
I find myself with a modified version of Mao's "Let a hundred flowers bloom. Let a hundred schools of though contend." Never mind that Mao never intended for his phrase to be taken seriously in 1960s China. I take it seriously now, although when I say "let a hundred schools of thought contend," I did NOT interpret that to mean "let a hundred posters on DU tear each other to bloody shreds and feed the scraps to hungry great whites." Not all shared my point of view, but what else is new?
We all learn something new everyday.

(701 posts)the superstate Oceania in a world of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance and public manipulation, dictated by a political system euphemistically named English Socialism (or Ingsoc in the government's invented language, Newspeak) under the control of a privileged elite of the Inner Party, that persecutes individualism and independent thinking as "thoughtcrime."[3]
The tyranny is epitomised by Big Brother, the Party leader who enjoys an intense cult of personality but who may not even exist. The Party "seeks power entirely for its own sake. It is not interested in the good of others; it is interested solely in power."[4] The protagonist of the novel, Winston Smith, is a member of the Outer Party, who works for the Ministry of Truth (or Minitrue in Newspeak), which is responsible for propaganda and historical revisionism. His job is to rewrite past newspaper articles, so that the historical record always supports the party line

If it's a piece that isn't anti-Democrat it's a leave.
It shouldn't matter if they are anti-Hillary or not. Each piece or segment should stand on its own merit. Not every segment they do is about, or even mentions Hillary.
From the rules:
Do not post disrespectful nicknames, insults, or highly inflammatory attacks against any Democratic public figures. Do not post anything that could be construed as bashing, trashing, undermining, or depressing turnout for any Democratic general election candidate, and do not compare any Democratic general election candidate unfavorably to their general election opponent(s).
Why we have this rule: Our forum members support and admire a wide variety of Democratic politicians and public figures. Constructive criticism is always welcome, but our members don't expect to see Democrats viciously denigrated on this website. This rule also applies to Independents who align themselves with Democrats (eg: Bernie Sanders)

(42,527 posts)Alex Jones video posted. Most of the time those are taken down. But some were put up for amusement. These bloggers have always been on our side. Even Malloy despite some of is outrageous off the cuff videos.

(4,490 posts)They all put out pretty good content most of the time. Banning them and sources like them entirely would make this just a news site without much to discuss, lol.

The only reason I bother coming here at all anymore, is that I don't like the idea of being bullied off this site.

(34,648 posts)The shit he does where he says Hillary's 'racism' is more Devastating Than Donald Trump's is one good damn reason to ban his ass. We black folks DO NOT NEED HIS ASS TO SPEAK FOR US AND DECIDE SHIT FOR US. He also was with that Stockholm syndrome racist ass shit and I did NOT see his fans disavow any of his shit. HE LOVE TO SPEAK FOR BLACK FOLKS. He is in. No damn way black. Turkish is not african. My bff is Turkish too, NOT BLACK.

(42,527 posts)guy is a nutjob, like Alex Jones you can alert on every video. Why should you treat another blogger any different?
pnwmom
(109,441 posts)it might survive an alert. Too many of those and I wouldn't be on any more juries.
yuiyoshida
(42,527 posts)an Alex Jones Blogger, isn't it your duty to alert on it, each and every time?
pnwmom
(109,441 posts)yuiyoshida
(42,527 posts)okay? But if they say they won't support Hillary than what? Mike Malloy openly says He will not support Hillary, do you think he should not have his videos here?
pnwmom
(109,441 posts)I hate watching videos instead of reading, and frequently the sound on my laptop doesn't work anyway.
yuiyoshida
(42,527 posts)Mike Malloy, will you alert on his videos? Or maybe leave it for someone else to do it?
pnwmom
(109,441 posts)for thinking that specific one should be alerted on.
But if Skinner ever put him on a banned list, I'd assume Malloy had earned his spot there, based on the videos I have watched.
Demsrule86
(70,825 posts)and he has had Jill Stein...the spawn of Satan on his show. During the primary, he followed the "Hillary did not have enough votes to clinch the nomination"...even after California. This was not true and I felt he was misleading Bernie supporters. At that point, I stopped listening to him. Everyone has an opinion but accurate information must be aired. That being said, I can turn the show off so I don't support blanket banning. Since the election, he has said Hillary Clinton is the only sane choice which is true. But many of those who call still say cruel, untrue things about her, and I don't see him correcting them often. So while I would not ban Thom, I don't listen much anymore. He is a smart guy, and I used to really enjoy his show. This has been a tough primary/election season, people I have long admired have disappointed me. I loved the Yount Turk and watched their shows every week when they were on the Gore channel and later on the net...but I would not now. It takes a certain amount of selfishness and privilege to be able to throw millions of vulnerable Americans under the bus by attacking Sec. Clinton: the only person who stands between us and Trump. Also, I don't like Stein and she has made more than one appearance on Thom's show. She was also on Make It Plain. Now any person or organization who writes and tapes videos that attack our nominee has no place here and should be called out every time. We support Democrats here. They can post elsewhere. This has nothing to do with freedom of speech and everything to do with our purpose here.

(109,441 posts)If a high percentage of any of these sources is anti-Hillary, then ban them like other anti-Democratic sites.
I keep seeing a lot of threads started with "concern" over something the poster finds that is negative towards Hillary. Their "concern" seems more like trying to game the system to put in negative things about Hillary, but try and keep from having their post removed. It also seems like a lot of the old "gang" that left, are coming back to cause more problems. They find some "concern" post and rec it up to keep in front and center, just like they did during the primaries.
We don't need to see the same crap again that we saw in the primaries.

(54,481 posts)Is to promote the profits of entertainers? That should really be in TOS.
Maybe just sign all the content over to Time Warner. Then we could put an end to citizens expressing views that cut into the almighty profit margin.

(70,825 posts)attempting to help Trump by attacking Hillary Clinton. I don't care if they have a sacred blog or on ten TV programs and numerous radio stations. And I question their motivation. Electing Trump would hurt so many innocent people that only a truly selfish uncaring person would do it. I would ban no one...I simply would ignore them.

(42,527 posts)alerting on all future Malloy videos when they are posted. Yes actually Alex Jones videos have been posted on DU and then removed.
