Georgia is not a deep red state statewide-changing demographics should help in the future. turnout in Atlanta is key.

but when asked about it he did comment (my expansion of his few words) that if Arizona and Georgia leaned to Clinton "to October" that could well mean control of the House was in play. At this point he just feels we have a fair to good chance to take the Senate.

Whatever. GA and AZ just might indicate something even bigger is happening than possibly winning the presidency with a mandate.

When asked what Clinton could get accomplished with just the Senate, he pointed to a few SCOTUS seats that the Senate would of course approve, laughing a bit at the reality that this would be huge, and also cabinet seats without delays, etc.

Not mentioned is that Clinton would also fill vacancies in the federal judiciary--huge!, with Senate approval. Most big cases are decided at the appellate level and never reach SCOTUS, and we currently have 11 seats to fill there alone, 92 empty seats total as of last month, plus any that would open over the next 8 years (currently 14 announced). (!!!)

Court/Vacancies/Nominees Pending
Total 92 57
US Court of Appeals 11 7
US Court of Federal Claims 6 5
US Court of International Trade 2 2
US District Courts (includes territorial courts*) 72 42
US Supreme Court 1 1

Georgia will be a minority-majority state in a decade or two at the most (maybe sooner).

to SC or Georgia. More white liberals could move into these warm southern states. That combined with higher AA population and these states could be changed!

Georgia will be blue ...maybe this year...but no matter what soon. I looked at 12...and realized how close Obama was...he never set foot in that state...who know what would have happened had he campaigned there.

I get my TV out of Augusta, and I saw my first "Hillary for President" commercial last night--during the Olympic opening ceremony, nonetheless. It was a most pleasant surprise, and I assume that's just the beginning. And, the good thing is that a nice, little chunk of my state, South Carolina, is served by the Augusta media. Not sure it will help here, but I'm getting the impression that SC is developing a purple tinge this year.

Georgia hasn't voted Democratic in a Presidential election since 1992. If GA turns blue, then the GOP is pretty much toast for any future election, unless they somehow manage to turn traditionally blue states to red. Of course, pigs will fly before that ever happens. If anything, at this rate, states like Texas will turn blue in the future, which spells further doom for the Republican Party.
