2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI feel like the "Silent Majority" in a Red State!
Work was incredibly entertaining today. I'm in SC and many of my coworkers are white, middle aged men, and very republican as you might imagine. The mood was so glum.
There are African Americans, and some women as well (it's an engineering/manufacturing co) and you could sense some happiness among blacks. But as many of the white men complained, I sat back, and realized it doesn't matter what they say. The politics they've been fed by the likes of Limbaugh and Hannity - of divisiveness and bitterness is not leading them anywhere. They are not self reflective or introspective in the least after the election. It's all the evangelicals fault. They didn't turn out. It's all Ron Paul's fault. He didn't endorse Romney. People are sheep. People are idiots. People are takers.
Keep at it my friends. My brown ass will keep voting and as far as I can tell it won't be for a republican in the near future. And there are plenty of us. And many of us are young but we're not going to rant or rave.
We're simply going to win - just like last night!

(1,484 posts)right wing, red neck, neo fascist nazis, so you can imagine the ration of stuff that I have to live under.
So, in lieu of the outcome of the election, I decided to punk them all today. This morning I put a box of Kleenex on top of every table in the tiny coffee house (ten tables) where all of them gather to endlessly gab about the evils of big gubberment and their hatred of our president. I didn't say one word. I just laid the tissues on the tables and then walked out again.
It was sweet! It was so very sweet.
On election day, I cursed myself for going to the polls right at rush hour (the noon hour). I had the entire day to do it. Why did I pick the busiest time? So I decided to time myself from the moment I slammed my car door, to the moment when my ballot was dropped through the slot in the ballot box.........90 seconds.

Seriously though, I'm in NC and we not only had Amendment 1 to enjoy last May but went red again last night. Oh, and our governor will now be R, so I can't wait to see what they come up with next.
But I haven't voted for a Republican in my 20 years of voting and I'm not about to change that.
Punish the haters at the ballot box until they repent. And then tack on some extra time for punitive damages.

(6,960 posts)I'm in SC, too... blue Richland County. Yeah, there were some sad faces at work yesterday, but I wore bright Democratic blue and hummed Happy Days are Here all day long!!!
