Trump's full comment today was more damning that what is being shown in edited clips

on CNN and elsewhere:

“Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish, the Second Amendment…By the way, and if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know. But I’ll tell you what, that will be a horrible day.”

He now says he was just speaking about political activism. Yeah, right.

3. Kind of the horns of a dilemna for Trump

either A. It is horrible for the 2nd Amendment crowd to participate in our democracy, or B. It is horrible for the country to witness another political assassination.

Neither helps Trump's case.

I think going with Option A might be better to shave votes off of Trump. He obviously has no respect for the political process. Most of his supporters would support Option B, but I don't think they would find it horrible.

5. No matter how the matter is parsed...

No matter how the matter is parsed, Trump's comments are clearly calling the single-issue 2nd amendment gun owners to bring their armed power threats into the fray.

He is saying that within the Trump tribe trying to stop Madame President, the only political power with enough clout is in the not yet cold dead hands of the armed segment of their big-pup-tent tribe.

6. Careful editing
Tue Aug 9, 2016, 05:26 PM
Aug 2016

The cable shows (CNN) is carefully editing the statement and asking for reactions. Jeff Sessions was just on playing defense for Trump basically saying it's all about 2nd Amendment rights. But this comment, whether Trump was kidding or not, is very close to what Tea Party wonder Sharron Angle said about 2nd Amendment solutions in her run for Harry Reid's seat in 2010. It cost her the election.

The Donald has a careless mouth and these are volatile times. Anything a candidate says that could incite the hot-headed crazies is irresponsible.

The man needs to put a sock in it. Or step away.

7. Don't let him get away with it. It was intentional. He knows what it means. He'll play innocent...

... and try to make you believe he meant something different, but don't believe it.

We don't have to meet court-of-law prosecutorial standards before we can condemn and call-out behavior like that. We know EXACTLY what he meant! It was an inflammatory lie, followed by a call-to-action for his supporters.

IT WAS A THREAT!!

His denying what he meant by that is along the lines of someone denying that "see you next Tuesday" doesn't mean anything vulgar and misogynistic either.

pair acting as if he were only talking about danger to the second amendment itself, but the others are all taking it as meaning assassination as a political response.

12. I heard that on the video and said the same thing
Tue Aug 9, 2016, 06:54 PM

He is talking about assassinating Sec. Clinton...obviously he did not mean the judges because what is to stop her from nominating different judges? And as for his silly claim he meant the NRA would rally to stop her...he is talking about after the election when she is picking judges. NO way he squirms out of this without the media's help.

I just received an email from the Clinton campaign and they also did not include the full quote. I requested that they do since it is more revealing. Hopefully they will take notice!

I also posted to my facebook page.
