Trump will lose anyway.

“It’s so likely that Donald Trump will lose, my entrance into the race doesn’t affect that,” McMullin said during an appearance on ABC’s This Week, noting Trump’s recent campaign missteps.

Calling Trump a “not credible candidate,” McMullin pointed to low poll numbers and the Trump’s inability to “control what he says” to illustrate that Trump will lose whether McMullin entered the race or not.

2. I read somewhere else that McMullin is courting the Mormon vote

True, Mormons are not Trump's biggest fans, but, still, they are largely Republicans and they could very well vote for him once in the voting booth. So, if McMullin can pull the Mormon vote away from Trump in Utah and wherever else it's significant - the article said but I forgot - then maybe this stunt could prove useful. Thaid, this guy strikes me as an opportunist, and I see a book coming from this little exercise.
