FBI Just Threatened The Entire Republican Party With Prosecution
August 17, 2016 Crime, News

The Republican Party has been squirming to find anything incriminating on Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in order to derail her presidential campaign and their obsession with her emails is now the stuff of legends. Despite the fact the the FBI has conducted an investigation and found no criminal intent by Clinton, the Republican Party continues to come after her, especially in the wake of Trump’s miserably failing campaign.

House Republicans have managed to get their hands on the notes from Clinton’s interview with the FBI about her email server. Now, the FBI has issued a clear warning to Republicans that if they leak any of the notes, they can face prosecution. Here is their statement:

“Consistent with our commitment to transparency with respect to the FBI’s investigation to former Secretary of State Clinton’s use of a personal server, the FBI is providing certain relevant materials to appropriate congressional committees assist them in their oversight responsibilities in this matter. The material contains classified and other sensitive information and is being provided with the expectation it will not be disseminated or disclosed without FBI concurrence.

Here is what Politico reported:

“As Donald Trump slides into oblivion and takes the Republican Party with him, the GOP-controlled House Oversight Committee is trying to revive the Clinton email scandal. House Republicans are trying to build a case for the Democratic nominee to be charged with perjury, but everyone understands what is really happening.”

Democrat and member of the House Oversight Committee Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) said:

“The FBI already determined unanimously that there is insufficient evidence of criminal wrongdoing. Republicans are now investigating the investigator in a desperate attempt to resuscitate this issue, keep it in the headlines, and distract from Donald Trump’s sagging poll numbers.”

The FBI reminded desperate Republicans that anyone who leaks information can face criminal prosecution. However, desperate times call for desperate measures so we’ll see how this plays out as some of them, especially those who support trump, a man who has called for foreign governments to spy on the United States, deserve prison time.

even though there is nothing there.

Hahahahahaha! They're stuck with Trump and it's their own fault and we all get to watch as he restructures his campaign yet again with new operatives with only 80 some days to go.

And Bannon is an improvement over Manafort how, as was Manafort over Lewandowski how? They all seem equally slimey to me.

But at least Bannon doesn't have the visible strings attached to his arms and legs directly from the Kremlin like Manafort does .

Someone will leak whatever insignificant information they get and then lie about it. The FBI will investigate but that will take time and will happen long after the election is over.

Republicans will do ANYTHING to win, including the possibility of criminal prosecution in the future.

remove him from office for misconduct for violating DoJ policy? In conducting his hastily called press conference in order to "explain the findings in the Clinton case" , he providing information that he had no right to provide to the Congress and the public and by doing so, prejudiced Sec Clinton in the public arena. As that other guy, Jason Herring (Acting Asst Director DoJ, FBI, Office of Congressional Affairs) said in that follow up letter to Congress, posted on DU the other day, the conduct of Hillary Clinton and some of her staff members was described by FBI Director Comey as "extremely careless" as a common sense way of describing that conduct, but that conduct does not meet the legal standard of "gross negligence" required by the statute, which is why no one involved was recommended for prosecution for any actions reviewed in the case.

they just want to keep their base angry and motivated to turn out. These are the folks that will buy all the bullshit shoveled at them by Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and most of the newspapers out there... so, they'll think there is some secret liberal media conspiracy led by the Clintons that is quashing the truth on the emails, Benghazi, Fast & Furious, Solyndra, the IRS, Vince Foster, Whitewater, etc.

The only way to get the Rethugs to lay off the email server or benghazi is to have someone else besides Hilary be our nominee...and, that ain't gonna happen! The rethugs need to look in the mirror and admit that it's only because of politics that they are interested in keeping this a subject of discussion! If Hilary were not our nominee, suddenly the 4 American lives lost in Benghazi would be completely out of their thoughts...despicable!!

All it takes is one that feels like they can "bring down" the other side. They usually see themselves as patriots.

Folks on the left in a similar situation tend to act based on an impulse to protect someone/something instead of trying to cause harm.

Either side could be called a whistleblower, just have to evaluate the motives to sort out which has the public interests in mind vs. some personal moral judgment.

They know better than to believe that patsy Putin was behind spying on Democrats.

However, the FBI also keeps a very tight lid on any investigations, so any info coming from them is likely a diversion tactic too.

The DNC hack is a much bigger story than the Watergate burglary. And a lot of effort seems to be going into creating the impression the Russians are the hackers. Whoever the hacker is, they used a computer in Russia to cover their trail. The last people who would do that are the Russians since it would be like pointing out your own guilt. Putin is now a patsy, and likely pissed about it. The person leaking the docs must know who the hackers are, so this is going to get exciting eventually.

Tangled web: Trump's campaign chief worked in Ukraine for Clinton associates

While Donald Trump’s campaign chair Paul Manafort worked for Ukraine’s former government, he funnelled some $2.2 million in cash to two Washington lobbying firms, including the Clinton-connected Podesta Group, new revelations show.
