(11,605 posts)Was right after the 2008 election when he congratulated Obama. I got the sense that as a Southern white person who grew up surrounded by overt racism, he was proud of the progress the country had made in electing Obama even if he disagreed with him.

(43,182 posts)My point was, if Dubya was the old standard for awful public speaking style but Trump comes in and created a new low standard, Dubya ends up sounding like MLK in comparison. In terms of delivery, not substance, of course.
