2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDear Donny, About your new minority outreach, do you really think that
AAs are going to forget your vile racism toward President Obama or your embrace of the racism that courses through so many of your most devout fans?
Do you really think that Hispanic Americans are going to forget your dashing out the gate with an attack on the Mexican people or your smearing of Judge Curiel's Mexican heritage?
Do you really thing that women will forget your decades long history of ugly words and actions directed at them?
Fuggetaboutit.
We won't forget. We won't shut up about it.
I'd quote Joseph Welch here and ask the famous question he posed to Senator McCarthy, but we already know the answer.
You have no sense of decency. Your lack thereof is a perfect bookend to your void of empathy.

(60,336 posts)I hope that the minority voters and the women voters in this country take the election and shove a defeat down Trumps throat.

(7,723 posts)certainly more plausible than Trump taking on Bannon to win the GE.

(617 posts)As cynical and disgusting as it is, giving condescending speeches in 95% white towns that tell black people what white people THINK should be told to black people, serves only one purpose:
Giving white, Republican-leaning people who are currently repulsed and can't in good conscience support Trump, the flimsy excuse they need, the mental permission, to come home for the Republicans again.
He didn't give a shit about minorities, still doesn't.

(7,723 posts)would actually be swayed by those speeches back to supporting him?

(617 posts)Than AAs. They tend to be Republican anyway, and they just need an excuse mentally to go back to being Republican.
And if his "you're better than this, my African-American over here" dipshit argument peels off a few black people, all the better.
It's a very insidious strategy and Dems better stay woke during this dangerous period.

(61,695 posts)His bankruptcies?
His fraudulent Trump University and its victims?
That he can't get loans from US banks and is using Russian oligarchs' money to finance his projects?
That he has stated he would lead the US to default on our borrowings?
That his tax returns, if revealed, would cause a mass exodus of campaign support?
That he praises dangerous dictators and wants to implement their autocratic style of government in the US, including ending free speech?
That he doesn't understand the point of having, but not using, nuclear weapons?
That our security is also tied to security of NATO nations?
That his proposed budget increases US debt?
That he has fidelity (trustworthy) issues?
Donny Deutch and Joe Scarborough are concerned that the hyperbolic, bigotted Trump on the campaign trail isn't the lovely guy they personally know, and that we won't be able to forget Trump's hate speech. They are missing the point: it's not so much what trump says, it's what he's done, how badly he's lived his life and run his business.

I realize that campaigns are full of pithy slogans and extreme talking points. I guess too many voters are too lazy to really understand for whom they are voting. Fine. Let's try to make some easy slogans out of his history.
A cheat and a fraud. This is the man Donald Trump has always been, is, and always will be.
