2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI am so sorry my fellow DU'ers.. I just cannot keep up anymore
My brain is officially mush.. I go to bed, grab a cup of coffee this morning when I get up and in the middle of the night find out.. Manafort quits. and Trump is landing in La., in the middle of the crisis, (the Governor asked the President to wait 2 weeks because they are so overwhelmed) and Colin Powell told Hillary to use a private server..
Not to mention all the racist stuff coming out about the Breitbart connections..
I can no longer keep up with the craziness, its a blow up every 8 hours.. Dear God what would it be like if Trump got into the White House??
Can you imagine, no its not imagine, its a blithering nightmare to think what it would be like with that man in charge??
EDIT TO ADD: This is not a good bye post , this is a good grief can it get any crazier? post

You raise a good point. What would his cabinet be like? Would members be coming and going constantly? Campaign staff retention rates are not good. How would he keep a White House staff together.

I lived through the sixties and never thought anything could top that. I feel like I got stuck inside some satirical movie and I can't get out. Its a B-movie with a cast of old washed up sitcom actors who can't even get a job selling reverse mortgages on television. Then I wake up.................nope, shit it keeps on going.

(15,262 posts)In that context, Trump's campaign makes a lot more sense. The only way they can come close to winning and holding Congress if making people doubt Hillary, stay home in November as if it were an off year election, and generally decide to ignore the election because it so turns them off.
It is an explicit strategy that benefits the Republicans only.

(34,136 posts)Tomorrow I go to voter registration training, Wednesday the local team leaders meet at my house, then the 27th through the 30th (primary voting day) we're sending teams out for GOTV from my house.
I probably won't have much time for DU so it will be a nice break. Hopefully it will be productive - we're pushing to register people who are not already registered so they can vote in the General Election.

(11,276 posts)Its more like 24 hour opinion. I cut my cable because of cable so-called news, and I feel much better since I did. Its the only real solution for you it seems. Cable creates conflict and doubt in its hunger for election add revenue. We get confusion and they get billions in add money.

(38,317 posts)I don't miss the so-called "news" or the incredibly obnoxious advertising.
It's been so long now without TV that if I turn on the television in a motel while traveling, or suffer one in a waiting room, it's like:
I've glimpsed some NBC Olympic coverage here and there, and I feel the same. The commentary and the advertising make it intolerable. I might be more interested in the Olympics if I could watch individual events as I please, with minimal commentary and advertising, on youtube or something, but I can't, so I only pay attention to the print news in my local paper and on the internet.

(769 posts)Trumpsters always claim that our current President is the reasons why their country is gone. Actually it's not gone and instead it's flourishing and professing beyond their own useless recognition. They are too struck with their own nostalgia version of 1950's America. My dad told me that 1950-60's was the most unbearable era of this country he have ever experienced and he said Beatles literally kept him going. Now the far right want us to go back to that era.
I sure hell have no interest in going back to that era.
for the beatles.
