2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumMy facebook response concerning Hillary's health
There's a lot of talk lately about Hillary's health. I think it is likely overblown, but so what if the president has a health crisis in office. That's what vice presidents are for. I was terrified of Sarah Palin being the vice Presidential choice of an elderly John McCain. Trump has a guy on the fringe of the religious right as his vice presidential pick. Hillary has Tim Kain, and I'm totally fine with him if God forbid, something happened to her while in office. Harry S. Truman and Lyndon B. Johnson did a fine job filling the shoes of their predecessors in a time of tragedy. That's why vice presidents matter!

(9,959 posts)...I'm surprised at those in their late 60s to 70s have recently run for President. Hillary, Bernie and even Trump often appear to have more energy than I... and they're the front-runners. Good for them!

Sorry, but your response concedes that the RW has won another argument based entirely on a whole cloth lie.

(101 posts)I really didn't know too much about this issue when I first wrote the post. But I can see how some may have interpreted it as a concession but it is not. I was being purely hypothetical on a what if.

(58,785 posts)a swiftboating of her health if you will, which for her age is good. Just one of her grueling days would have me flat on my back the next. I'm definitely not in shape for that.
It is humorous, though. The swiftboaters're really scraping bottom on this one. I mean, photoshopped lumbar pillows ?? as a consolation prize for not seeing her lead off in handcuffs? Whatever. Even this silliness apparently supplies sufficient delighted malice, judging by those chortling over her presumed seizures (right on stage!) that only they are aware enough to recognize. And all the rest.
You made a good point, though. Hillary, as she said she intended to, very responsibly chose a highly competent, ready "spare" should anything happen.

(15,222 posts)First off, your post does not offend me. But the idea that Trump, et al are spinning these lies and planting the notion that something is wrong with Hillary offends me.
It is age old sexism. She's sick. She's weaker. She's not fit. She's not strong. She's female.
All complete and utter bullshit.
I cannot wait until the debates so that Hillary can stand toe to toe with Trump and make mincemeat out of him.

(28,341 posts)The attacks on her health are not overblown. They are fabrications. You don't build work-arounds for fabrications, you confront them directly.
Utah_liberal
(101 posts)but I've been around for awhile. I need to read threads here once in awhile to get away from the idiocy I find too much of elsewhere on the net.
