(16,230 posts)As a Sanders supporter, I knew that he would do the right thing.
And he's also supporting Katie McGinty here in Pennsylvania!

(5,624 posts)Bernie Sanders, the runner-up for the Democratic presidential nomination, plans to return to the campaign trail after Labor Day, with an eye toward energizing working-class and young voters to support his former rival, Hillary Clinton, he said Friday.
I look forward to it, the senator from Vermont said in an interview. I feel very strongly that Donald Trump would be a disaster for the country. I want to do everything I can to see that Secretary Clinton wins.
Sanders, who endorsed Clinton last month, ticked off a list of states that he is likely to hit in coming weeks, including some where he won primaries and caucuses (New Hampshire, Maine, Michigan and Wisconsin) and some where he fell short but ran strongly among key segments of the electorate (Ohio, Pennsylvania and Nevada).
Sanders said that during some of those visits he will also campaign on behalf of Democratic Senate candidates, including Katie McGinty in Pennsylvania, Ted Strickland in Ohio and Maggie Hassan in New Hampshire. He is also planning to campaign for other progressive down-ballot candidates, he said.

(5,322 posts)I don't think he will tell undecideds whom to vote for, as much as he will be voting for Clinton. It's not his job otherwise. It's HC's job to persuade (if they haven't been already by the antics of Drumpf) in the long run. The debates will be more helpful to HC as she is a strong debater.

I did not say for him to TELL people who to vote for just to let them know what a stupid egotistical mistake it would be to think a write in for Bernie or vote for Jill has any value.

(5,322 posts)I think the undecideds will be making up their mind after the debates. I don't think Bernie nor Martin (O'Malley) will be able to persuade others to vote for Clinton. Bernie's populist ideas may help the down tix.

(8,173 posts)fellow men/women have already made the decision to vote for Hillary.
The remaining bitter folks, at least some percentage of them, I don't think are persuadable (or logical frankly). Some of them actually think Bernie's life and/or his grandchildren's lives were threatened in order to convince him to endorse Hillary - Bernie would sound like a looney toon if he even acknowledged this thinking.
I hope I am wrong and that Bernie has some ideas about how to help these people get their feet back on the ground and recognize that the ideas they profess to care about will not move forward an inch with Trump in the WH. The only way to prevent Trump in the WH is voting for Hillary.

(1,630 posts)They also try to change the minds of those who might be committed to voting otherwise. That is what high stakes, gifted politicians and campaigners do. It is fantastic that Bernie will be out there on Hillary's behalf and hope he brings his A game!

(114,904 posts)Some of you will NEVER be satisfied with what Bernie does. There's already whinging shit about why not before then.
He represents me. Has done for 25 years. He will make a strong case on the campaign trail for Hillary. If that's not enough for some, not only tough, but pretty contemptible.

(11,605 posts)I am excited to see him back on the campaign trail. It made me sad that we have not seen him much since the convention. I figured he was getting some well deserved rest.
The article said he is writing a book about his experience running for president. I can't wait to read it.

August is traditionally more low key for most nominees- as it is for HRC.

(114,904 posts)He's doing all he can to elect HRC.
But no, you have to find some way to knock him.
Disappointing, but sadly not surprising. At all.

Trump will attack him, for sure. And it won't be pretty.

Sanders said he plans to hold large-scale rallies, which were a staple of his campaign, drawing from both his land Clintons lists of supporters.
I think we can create large turnouts, he said.
