2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumMy god. The Clintons leverage their fame to do good in the world. They break no laws
but yet the GOP find a way to create a social panic about the Clinton Foundation. Creeps. Even CNN is panicking. Calm down. This is a double standard. Breath deep. Ask about the double standard. Remind republicans that after 9/11 Kenneth Starr came had in hand and apologized for his investigation into Whitewater. Obviously Republicans were begging democrats to not do what they did and appoint a special prosecutor on the 9/11 attacks. Now there is a story to ad some balance.

(3,666 posts)I understand the Republicans and Trump. They will seize on anything they can.
But the media is so busy talking about this hour after hour with nothing feeding it but their own "speculation."
They don't even bother to do any real reporting -- like what happened as a consequence of any of these meetings or phone calls that they are so obsessed with.

(24,565 posts)They probably can't believe the Clinton's operate the Foundation as an altruistic endeavor. Trump would bleed it dry in a heartbeat!

(13,776 posts)Even if people got a meeting with either Clinton in return for a donation (and I am not conceding that anything like that took place... people like the Clintons meet with household-name people all the time), it's not as if they tucked that money into their pockets.
Nobody has ever accused Hillary Clinton of being a slacker--she got her job done as SoS. So if in her spare time she met people and thereby raised money for the foundation (and again, I'm not conceding it was that clear cut), and that money saved lives... ???? What good has Trump ever done for other people with his time and money?

(1,901 posts)are also joining them, using the same talking points. Some guy named Doug Henwood, the author of some anti-Hillary screed is an example, building on David Sirota's reality challenged nonsense. I stumbled on the guy after following a rather silly tweet from a well known Anti-Hillary troll who used to post here and on Daily Kos rather dishonestly about the links they were posting, but with great zeal and dedication.
The Henwood guy insisted that the BUSH group was doing more good for AIDS patients than Obama or the Clintons. Apparently pushing abstinence only education is somehow better than ya know, anti-retroviral drugs that the Clinton Foundation worked to get to poor people in many parts of the world.
