I stole a friend's Trump yard sign from his garage.

He had a party at his home a couple weeks ago and put the Trump sign away where no one would see it. I was having a smoke in his garage when I spied it hidden away by his tool box. I didn't say anything, but when I left I snapped a selfie of me stealing it. I emailed the pic to him a few days later.

Last week I was at the bar where his wife works and she told me he couldn't believe I'd actually steal his sign. I explained to her I was just helping him clean the trash out of their garage. Anyway, when she left she swiped a Hillary sign from behind the seat of my sports car. I had a chuckle when I realized it wasn't fluttering in the wind on my way home.

When I got home I emailed him to congratulate his wife on a clever payback. He emailed back that maybe we can work out a trade, like it was some god damned hostage situation. I replied that he doesn't know who the fuck he's dealing with.

I informed him that now The Notorious HRC is involved and she doesn't negotiate with kidnappers. I went on to say if he doesn't return my sign in good order I'll slice & dice old Trumpy here. I included this picture of me and his sign.

I'll wait another week for a reply then run this thing through a paper shredder and mail the remains to his house.

Politics are fun if you do it right.

Is that what you do? It would explain why you're questioning me online about my social circle.

Indeed, if you reject long term relationships over an election, you're doing politics wrong.

There are so many pockets in our country where this would turn out ugly, even between neighbors.

See if you can get your neighbor to give you a similar picture that you can post of your Clinton/Kaine sign.

I spent 4 hours on a golf course with 6 self identified deplorables this afternoon. After a few friendly banters i reached the conclusion these dudes were the ones Trump was talking about when he said he could shoot someone on 5th avenue and his supporters would remain true.
They are a humorous bunch and i enjoyed the day. Told them all next week i would bring them all Hillary hats to wear.

...he'll get as much of it that I can stuff into a priority mail envelope along with a note made from letters cut out of magazines. I haven't worked out the message yet.

I figure if he's going to support Trump he'd better develop a good sense of humor.

Tell him it's only going to get worse from there. The real pain begins when Hillary begins slowly carving up the rump. There's still time for him to prevent this horrific massacre, if he cooperates.

Loved your story! Well played!

Let's look at some details of this alleged crime.

He's a friend of 15 years.
I was invited to his house.
I took a selfie of me making off with his secreted sign and sent it to him.
He got even by purloining one of my Hillary signs.

This is less a crime and more a series of harmless pranks between friends. A cop once told me that intent is everything when determining a crime.

Having said that, I only wish I could get in my old '97 Buick and spend the day running over Trump yard signs, but that would be criminal. Like most people on DU, I know the difference.

To me it is not funny.

A friend that can support racism is not a person I can keep around.

Politics shouldn't make neighbor hate neighbor or friendships dissolve. I think it is wonderful that you guys can keep a running gag like this going, and you are doing a fabulous job. That last picture of the "hostage" is hysterical!
