How DU members can reach out to Millennials.

If DU members here have children of voting age and would like to reach Millennials, I have a suggestion. If your adult kids have a Facebook page, go on their Facebook page and start a discussion. I posted this last weekend but it bears repeating. I posted the New York Times endorsement of Hillary on my kids Facebook page. I have included a link to that endorsement below. I did so because I thought it was well written and it explains very well what is at stake. I have also provided a link below to the NY Times opinion on why Trump should not be president. If you want to reach Millennials you have to go where they go, and in this instance you don't have to leave your keyboard. FTR, I do not hang out on FB. I primarily go there to see the latest photos of my grandbabies. But while there I notice that they have a lot of friends posting so what better way to reach that generation since my kids don't mind. Below is the link that I posted on my youngest son's Facebook page in case you needs some suggestions for starting that discussion along with the links to the editorials.

I'm with Her. http://www.nytimes.com/…/sunday/hillary-clinton-for-preside…
Hey Kenny. Just wanted to pass this on to you and some of your friends. We have an important election coming up soon, and the media says that your generation, the Millennials, just aren't interested so they're sitting it out. I assure you that there are important things at stake, and this is not the time to be passive. Your generation cannot afford to sit on the sidelines. Please read the linked NY Times Opinion. It is a very good piece and you and your friends need to know what I already know. There is only one choice for President on November 8 and that is Hillary Clinton. You've trusted me for the past 27 years and I've never led you astray. There is only one candidate who is uniquely qualified to occupy the office of President of the United States on day one. The office of the POTUS is the most powerful position in the world. We have to be able to have confidence in the words uttered by our President. We have that confidence in our current President, Barrack Obama. We will have that confidence in Hillary Clinton. We don't have that confidence in the reality TV star Candidate who lives in his own reality. The State of Nevada will play a major role in deciding who our next President will be. It's time to get off the fence and get busy talking among yourselves and make sure that you Vote on Nov 8 and tell all your friends as well. America is already great. That's why I'm with Her. I hope and assume that the campaign is also focusing on the platforms that millennials use more than Facebook. I'm old enough that I don't even know what they are--off the top of my head I'd guess Snapchat or Instagram, but those are probably on their way out by now

I think Facebook is mostly for old fogies like me these days.

lots of friends their own age who spend more time than I do on Facebook. Their friends probably would not have seen the NY Times endorsement otherwise.

The polls taken since the debate show a strong shift towards Clinton among those under 35. They now support Clinton at about the same rate as for those over 35. I expect her support to increase a lot more.

try this, but it doesn't answer fundamental questions about who she is and why vote for her when so many people are smearing her.

Hi X, I wanted to take a moment to reach out to you because you are a Millennial and the data suggests that Millennials are the most disenchanted group of voters we have. Twenty-one percent of Millennials are willing to vote for Gary Johnson because they are so disappointed in the candidates of the major parties. But here's the thing. Johnson can't win. 21% of the vote doesn't win. We just have to hope that these are voters who would have picked Trump, because we simply cannot afford for him to win. Now, maybe you're not in a swing state, and you feel that a protest point is important to you. But if you ARE in a swing state, please don't throw your vote away. I am supporting Hillary, and part of it is an anti-Trump vote. I am scared of one of the most powerful men in the world being someone who hates or mocks over 60% of all Americans: women, African-Americans, Latinos/Latinas, immigrants, Muslims, and the disabled. Everyone seems to think that the "system of checks and balances" will keep him from doing too much damage. They forget about the Executive Order. And the right to declare war. I don't want to see these things in Trump's hands. So, who is the Democratic candidate? For starters, Hillary has a history of staying true to her Party. She can be counted on to nominate a progressive candidate to the Supreme Court. As SoS, she has created good-will in over 100 countries. As a Senator, she has championed health care for children and NYC First Responders. Her voting track record in the Senate is almost as progressive as Bernie Sanders' - people just don't know about it. Yes, there's that e-mail issue. And questions about arms deals. And Haiti didn't go so well. But she was absolutely NOT responsible for Benghazi, and this was proven. Nearly everything that's been said about her has been proven to be false. You can read about it in politifact.com and snopes.com.
I've attached two articles about Hillary and Trump, and if you haven't made up your mind, I hope you'll read them. Because your vote counts. Please pass it on.

I reached out to the parents of Millennials that I know. With this note, I pointed them to http://www.vote411.org. Millennials do a lot of their knowledge gathering via web. So it's a great site to direct them to.
