WikiLeaks promised to release new information that would shake up the presidential race on Tuesday but instead, it didnt reveal anything new and founder Julian Assange spent part of his media conference plugging his new book.
Donald Trump fans had expected Assange to effectively end Hillary Clintons campaign this week after top Trump ally Roger Stone promised that Clinton would be done after WikiLeaks big reveal:

Because of this, they were understandably furious when Assange revealed nothing new about Clinton, and he seemed to throw cold water on the idea that any revelations he had in store would destroy Clintons campaign.
Theres been a lot of misquoting of me and Wikileaks publications, Assange said when asked if he believed his work would end Hillary Clintons political career.

(10,893 posts)I have to admit this: he's doing a great job at playing the Trumpanzees for even bigger fools than I thought they were.

(2,792 posts)As a Clinton presidency becomes more certain, why would Assange be so stupid as to alienate further a future United States president in order to back a loser, who will likely be himself indicted and who won't be in any position to help Assange (or pardon him, for that matter)? We may even see Putin and his hackers back off a bit as well, for similar reasons, as the odds of turning the election in Trump's favor become more remote. There comes a point where the downside of supporting Trump makes interference in the election no longer prudent.

As we get closer to the election, effort spent by Putin to defeat Clinton and by Assange to discredit her becomes counterproductive.

(34,845 posts)Assange squandered the opportunity to do good in the world. It's no wonder they are drawn to the king of losers: Donald Trump. As you say, they may both be rethinking their fever dreams of a Trump presidency.

(2,792 posts)Even Michael Reagan has turned against him, and it took a while.
Ryan and McConnell are too clueless to face reality. Cruz made a very bad bet when he sold out. That makes the three of them dumber than the loser they are backing.
Pretty soon there won't be a ship for the rats to abandon.
I am looking forward to the complete audit of the Trump Foundation, among other things; and I am respecting Marla more and more, assuming that she is the one who did the right thing to bring this tragic comedy to an end.
Trump may serve two or more "terms," but it won't be in the White House.

Good points and a good post that makes total sense.

two explanations for an occurrence, the simpler one is usually correct?
Well, rightwing conspiracy clowns subscribe to whatever Occom's Razor isn't.
They have twisted themselves in knots with all kinds of convoluted tinfoil plated
excuses for being rick-rolled by Assange in the middle of the night. They should
have stuck to watching sex tapes with Donald.
