If Matthew is as bad as expected, should the Sunday debate be postponed?

First, I hope the predictions are not as dire as predicted and everyone is safe, although the projections are not looking good. If the south-east coast is devastated, if there is loss of life, homes and businesses are destroyed and millions are without power, out of respect, should the second debate be delayed, and what impact could the storm potentially have on the election?

But no reason to postpone otherwise.

Otherwise we won't get to hear Trump say, "I like people who don't get trapped in a hurricane, OK?"

The hurricane will impact a relatively quite small part of the country. Both sides of the race have a busy scheduled week after the debate. No need to upend their schedules.

...no. The wheels of democracy shouldn't stop and the wheels of government help for the area will go on with or without a debate. It's unfortunately that folks in that are are subject to the risks of Matthew and will likely not be part of the discussion on Sunday. That said, the rest of the country will be engaged so...charge on.

As to impact on the election, I would hope that FEMA and others will support the community. At the same time, I would hope those in the community who spend their days praying for smaller government appreciate that it's the Big Government Satan helping them out. Probably won't happen but we can dream, can't we.

when McCain wanted to cancel a debate because of the financial crisis. I'm sure Trump would love to have an excuse to cancel Sunday's debate.

Why exactly do you think they shouldn't debate? I don't get your reasoning. Sure isn't respect.

I also worked the day after 911. Was that disrespectful?

Donald Trump does what he does at debates (lies, insults and promotes his hate agenda) seems disrespectful.

Just as I did the day after 9/11. Were they pulling any bodies from rubble then.

There is a clear trend from some people to stop Trump from standing on the stage with Clinton again. I cannot connect your reasoning here. If anything, events like these heighten the importance of the debates. Sorry, I truly hope Trump isn't getting the night off.

I don't get your line about Trump and disrespect. The hurricane holds no weight on Trump being disrespectful every day of his life. Debate or not, he will be disrespectful on Sunday. I can't grasp the direction you are coming from.

Edit to add: As a part of my job, I will be dealing directly with cleaning up and securing property in the aftermath of the storm. Even more so if it makes its way to my coast as some are now predicting.

time and the format might be easier for him. I want the next debate to be behind a podium.
