2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI'm glad that this hurricane didn't happen during election day! What a nightmare ...
... it would have been if people couldn't vote because of being evacuated and/or closed polling places.

(3,040 posts)The states that are anticipated being hit by Matthew have been trying since 2008 to close as many polling places as possible.

(54,770 posts)you've exited earth, it probably wouldn't count. But I don't know for sure. As a practical matter, I bet they wouldn't know or go out of their way to subtract your vote, if they do know.
Let's not try it, though.

(224 posts)I live in Florida, already have sent for absentee ballot. I used to live in Georgia.
there are four states (Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina) that are in the path of Hurricane Matthew. Depending on the levels of damage and confusion therein, there is SERIOUS OPPORTUNITY FOR VOTER MANIPULATION AND FRAUD IN THOSE LOCATIONS.
It would be my perspective such fraud would likely benefit Trump and the Republican mess.
Please make sure that if you can't get absentee or accurate polling location information after this event in this coming week, put some people to work on the problem from all the Democratic get out the vote people AND
RAISE HOLY HELL IF YOU ARE AFFECTED BY ANY TYPE OF FRAUD.
PS - I was on DU for years but was away long enough I have to re-set my ability to post myself. I am still limited to replying to other posts. Anyone who sees this and can post themselves, PLEASE post this as an original post to get this message widely read. Thanks.

(13,616 posts)it does not help that the blue part of florida, namely south florida and orlando, is in the path. I can se Rick sitting on his hands to fic those areas while making sure his panhandle gets all they need.

Between those 3 counties you have almost 100K more Romney votes. (the other counties along the coast are more evenly divided).
I am not sure what the disruptions will mean for voting. Also what disruptions going more inland.
Actually you have another 18K more for Romney in Martin County as well. Duval is another 14K.
