2016 Postmortem

From the projections I've seen, the chances look pretty good for Hillary and at least a 50/50 split in the Senate. Not chicken counting here, just saying what i've seen (GOTV ANYWAY!!!).
But my question here is, is there any chance of the House? This site shows Dems picking up 12 but the GOP still holding a 235-200 advantage

We know the deck is stacked due to gerrymandering, but i'm wondering if the latest scandal for Trump, which has the GOP abandoning him, will led to many skipping this election, which could open the door for Dems to pick up more seats.
In addition to the 12 seats already projected to be lost, the GOP would need to lose another 18 seats on top of that, which seems like a VERY tall order. Note that on the link above there are 14 seats listed as "weak GOP hold". any or all of these could be swayed by Trump "dragging down the party" with him.
Getting the Senate back would be great (SCOTUS!!!) but without the House I see another 4 years of obstructionism. Anyone here anything more optimistic for the House?

(146,308 posts)almost anything is possible. It's so easy not to vote that many moderate Republicans may decide to skip the election this year. Now, if Democrats will turn out in force, the House could conceivably be in play.
GOTV for Democrats!

(14,311 posts)to put the House in play. You're right that gerrymandering makes this an uphill battle. If we had energized Hillary voters and extremely demoralized and disgusted Trump voters who stay home, then yes, I think it is possible to take the House.
Let's give Hillary a Congress she can work with. Flip that House!
